Kabadi
Kabaddi is a wrestling sport played in South Asia. The name is derived from the Tamil word (கை-பிடி) "kai" (hand), "pidi" (catch), which is translated into "catching hands".[1] Two teams occupy opposite halves of a small swimming pool or field and take turns sending a "raider" into the other half, in order to win points by tackling members of the opposing team; then the raider tries to return to his own half, holding his breath and chanting the word "Kabaddi" during the whole raid. The raider must not cross the lobby unless he touches any of his opponents. If he does so then he will be declared as "out". There is also a bonus line which ensure extra points for the raider if he manages to touch it and return to his side of the field successfully.
In the international team version of kabaddi, two teams of seven members each occupy opposite halves of a field of 10 m × 13 m in case of men and 8 m × 12 m in case of women.[2] Each has three supplementary players held in reserve. The game is played with 20-minute halves and a five-minute halftime break during which the teams exchange sides.
Teams take turns sending a "raider" to the opposite team's half, where the goal is to tag or wrestle ("confine") members of the opposite team before returning to the home half. Tagged members are "out" and temporarily sent off the field.
The goal of the defenders is to stop the raider from returning to the home side before taking a breath. If any of the seven players cross the lobby without touching the raider he will be declared as "out".
The raider is sent off the field if:
• the raider takes a breath before returning.
• the raider crosses a boundary line.
• a part of the raider's body touches the ground outside the boundary (except during a struggle with an opposing team member).
Each time when a player is "out", the opposing team earns a point. A team scores a bonus of two points, called a "lona", if the entire opposing team is declared "out". At the end of the game, the

It happens about 100 times a game in the National Football League: a bone-jarring tackle that slams a player to the turf. On the play shown in the photo above, Seattle Seahawks defensive back Marcus Trufant (23) drilled Philadelphia Eagles receiver Greg Lewis (83) with such force that Lewis couldn't hang on to the ball. (Seattle won the Dec. 5, 2005, game at Philadelphia 42-0 in the most lopsided shutout ever broadcast on Monday Night Football.) Incompletions and fumbles aren't the only consequences of such tackles. More than 100 concussions are recorded each season in the NFL. Given the size and speed of today's athletes, it's surprising that more gridiron warriors aren't carried off the field on their shields. For that, they can thank high-tech gear that protects them from the physics at play in the sport's fearsome collisions.…

For instance, the NFL Competition Committee’s implications of the Roughing-the-Passer and Defenseless player rules are prime examples of the tradition changing, and these rules are progressively turning the game soft. Football has always been a sport that emphasizes brutality and toughness, but over the years, the implications of all these rules are starting to change the tradition of the game, and it is progressively making the NFL lose its value. One tradition that has been recently altered is the kickoff line claims sports writer Marc Tracy. The NFL has moved the kickoff line from the thirty to the thirty-five-yard line in order to minimize the number of returns during kickoffs. Kickoff is one of the many valuable traditions in a football game, especially the opening kickoff. It is the commencement of the game. It excites the fans out of their seats because nobody knows what could happen; it is unpredictable. The anticipation is the most exciting part of the opening kickoff; at least it used to be. Nowadays, most kickoffs result in an almost guaranteed touchback due to the modification of the kickoff line from the thirty to the thirty-five-yard line. Tracy also claims, the NFL Competition Committee believes kickoff is arguably the most dangerous play in a football game, which is why they moved the line up, so they can minimize the number of returns (Tracy). Sadly,…

You’ve seen it. At least once in the hall. Maybe you've even done it to someone. Some people call it a “shoulder check”. This name is based off a term in hockey. This is because the actions are somewhat similar to each other. Shoulder Checking in hockey is running your shoulder into another player’s shoulder. This is usually done while going full speed down the ice with your shoulder. Shoulder checking another person in the hall is still running your shoulder into theirs. It is much less violent than in hockey and is obviously not done on ice.…

Other rules are you can have a minimum of five players. No jewelry or things like that that would get in the way. All pads and braces must be worn above the waist. This sport is played by two groups of 11 players each on a rectangular, 100-yard-long field with objective lines and goal posts at either end, the objective being to pick up ownership of a ball and propel it in running or passing plays over the rival's objective line or kick it through the air between the adversary's goalposts. Despite the fact that this game is generally supported by the public it seems to come with the dangers of wounds and injuries.
