Benedict believes an action may be good for one person but bad for another person, or good in one culture setting but bad in another cultural setting. We should not ask whether an act is good or bad in the abstract, but only whether it is good or bad in a particular situation.…

The book starts with a foreword by Steve Chalke, The short story is about a dream. The dream is Jesus coming back to earth in the sixteenth century and get arrested by inquisitor then told he will be killed.…
In Grace Janizen’s “Whose Problem Is the ‘Problem of Evil’”, she points out the philosophers spent too much trying to answer why God created a world with evil in it and not answering more important questions. She starts off by saying that people spend too much on the matter whether good is too God to create a world with evil in it. She also explains the type of people that try to explain evil in the world, the veil of soul-making who believe that evil helps people become a better person. The other type is the free-will defense is God can only do logical things, but a world filled with evil is not very logical. Instead she feels that people should focus on other questions like if God allowed there to evil then should we really try fit those…
Many worshippers of God like to believe that he is intrinsically good; this means that he is good in himself. People try to argue this by the Bible and through many things in the Bible such as the 10 commandments and the creation of the universe as well as the many miracles of the Saints. God is seen to act morally good as he creates a world which is seen to be good, therefore he must be. “God saw that it was good, and it was good.”…
What does Christianity teach about good and evil? (n.d.).In BBC. Retrieved September 2, 2014, from http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/rs/god/chgoodandevilrev2.shtml…
What is morally good is defined in different ways throughout the world. Race, society, moral beliefs, God, an individual, and also many others can determine what is thought to be good or bad. God as well as the individual defines what the good is.…
For much of the book Eli is a dedicated Jew. He is committed in his belief in God,!despite the unspeakable trials of pain that he must endure. As the novel progresses Eli sees more of his people suffer unspeakable events. He begins to question what kind of God can let this happen,he begins to doubt God. I don't think Eli ever really forsakes his belief in God rather than consider his faith and God's role in a world that holds much evil.…
Faith, in the religious sense, is the belief based upon our spiritual connections with God. Faith aids, stabilizes and nourishes us spiritually allowing our knowledge of his words to grow. Since there are so many different religious faiths, one must indulge in the one that is closer to home. Christianity is the religion that is dominant in the United States. It is faith and belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, The Father, and that He was send to earth to save the souls of sinners.…
In McCloskey’s article his argument starts with the “proofs” that are nonexistent and we should simply abandon our theistic ways and what we consider our “proofs” to be that God does exist. According to McCloskey our world does not reveal the work of an all knowing all perfect being. I don’t know how one who is a Christian cannot get a little worked up when reading this article. That being said, I felt that when I watched the presentation it made way more sense to me than the article did. When McCloskey says that there cannot be evil and good, I disagree very much. How do we know for sure what is moral and what is evil and how do we describe this? As put in the presentation “you know it when you see it”. God is the standard of good. We are given the choice of free will, like Adam we are to be “god like” we have the value and are in god’s likeness but we can misuse our human freedom. Free will teaches us how to learn to react to things in our natural environment and that helps us evolve spiritually.…
As I was watching the Frontline Video, Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero, I was immediately faced with the question about evil. It is hard to imagine how someone could do something so horrific in the name of religion. So many lives were forever changed during the events that transpired on Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 2001. As a believer of God, I could certainly identify with the feelings of the people who lost loved ones during the 9/11 tragedy.…
The Middle Ages was an Age of Faith. Throughout the Middle Ages, there were many changes, innovations, and disasters. The Crusades, bubonic plague, and the Church are all big things throughout the Middle Ages. The thing is, they all revolve around religion and faith.…

Human perception of what actions are good or evil is arbitrary, and those actions are based only on our own judgement. It is difficult to establish a set principal of what is good or evil, because people will always view ideologies differently and feel the need to see the world in their way. The human need to designate actions as good or evil is to reassure themselves of their own actions or beliefs as justified and morally right.…

Personal experiences have the tendency to impact and alter people’s views. With many backgrounds, it’s difficult for people to agree on what is considered good or bad because of the different background they come from. Furthermore the interpretation of the importance of good for some people may not be important to others.…
