Jockey Club Research Paper
The first time that the name of Jockey Club came to my eyes is on the buildings in our campus – Jockey Club Innovation Tower and Jockey Club Auditorium. This brought me a great interest to know what is Jockey Club and why it can invest money to build two major buildings for my university. During my research, I started to want to work for the club after my graduation. First, it is a non-profit organization and invests a lot in the charity every year. Second, working for Jockey Club can give me opportunities to communicate with people with different backgrounds. Last, it holds many activities every year and have a creative place for working.

Paul revere ride is a very important event in history because it was when paul revere rode all around boston shouting. The Redcoats are coming, The Redcoats are coming.¨ We know of this amazing event in history because of the famous poem written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The poem was 14 paragraphs long. I think he also lit candles, if one candle was lit it meant the redcoats were coming by land and if two candle were lit it meant that the redcoats were coming by sea. The candles were how the patriots knew if the redcoats were attacking by sea or by land.…

I did not think about the role of Fr. Pfleger as an image of a father for all children who has no father’s figure in the community, that is a good point. The case of John Turner, in Anderson book, is a good example of how those young men in those communities struggle “by the luck of an effective model, or a decent father,” and yet John in his extreme needs, approached to Anderson (an unknown person), looking for an advise of a man, “might I have word with you.” Because Fr. Pfleger lives in the communities for so long, he knows everyone and all the news in the community, he plays not only a role of a “father,” but also as someone with Godly authority. He is a prophetic leader who stands for African American communities in the name of God. Somehow…

In “The Rocking-Horse Winner” we are introduced to a woman who author D.H Lawrence states, “was beautiful, who started with all the advantages, yet she had no luck. She married for love, and the love turned to dust. She had bonny children, yet she felt they had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them.” When I dive into the psychology behind that statement, I come up with a thought that this beginning draws similarities to Lawrence’s own upbringing with his coal miner father and schoolteacher mother. Similarly the mother in “The Rocking-Horse Winner” is disenchanted with her marriage and the way her life has turned out. In Lawrence’s own childhood he had parents who were suspected of treason and very status minded. (559) When I look at the relationship in the opening of the story between mother and children it is one of feeling burdened and having been ill prepared for child rearing and mother hood. This family seems completely motivated and driven by social status and superficial impressions. It seems to me that the children were brought into the world not by want or out of love but by obligation and social standards. What was a woman back then who did not raise a family and keep a home?…
