Job Shadowing Research Paper
An educational activity that I would enjoy is shadowing someone in a career i think is interesting, so I can see if I like the job, if it is what I expected it to be, and it gets me out of the classroom for the day. First of all, This educational activity will help me see if I like the job. If I do not like lots of time with other people and at this job there is a lot of people to talk to, I probably wouldn’t want this job. Also, by job shadowing I can learn how much work I will have to do. For example, the job might be more work than what I want. Last of all, the job might require more math or English than I wanted it to be. I don’t like to read, so if the job had a lot of reading that could affect how I work. Spending the day job shadowing will help me decide if I like the job. Secondly, when students job shadow, they can figure out if the job is what they expected it to be. Maybe they thought the job would be more fun than it actually was and they don't have as much freedom as they thought. By seeing the job in action, they can figure out how hard the job is going to be. Students can also learn about the hours the job requires. For example, they may have to work nights. Therefore having students spend the day in a job they think they want can help them figure out if the job is what they expected it …show more content…
Many classes don’t have enough classroom activities, so sitting in their desk gets boring. Getting out of the classroom will help kids stay out of trouble. If they’re bored in class, they may be yelling out random things and will end up getting punished. Most classes do not let students walk around and do partner work. Job shadowing will give them the chance to be out of the classroom and active. In conclusion, having an educational activity where students can job shadow will keep them from being bored all

The career of choice I would like to pursue is auditing. Since this field involves a lot of confidential items and work I was not able to find someone outside my own current job to allow me to job shadow. Therefore, I would like to discuss a time where I first went on an audit at my current job, which is with the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department. <br>The work area where I went was inside a building. The employees aren't alone; there are other people's desks near by. This job is certainly not hectic and tense, its more quiet and clam. Sometimes people are walking by, or come in to talk to them though. There are a lot of glass windows, whether it for looking outside, or into the more private office, there is quite a lot of glass, and desks are scattered throughout the building. Some of the equipment used is copy machines, fax machines, and printers. There are computers and phones on the employee's desks. By shadowing my mom, I learned a whole lot about trading and selling stocks. I also learned how the employees have to deal with clients that have problems or questions about their stock. So I know what kind of skills I need, and what I have to do to be a stockbroker. This experience of job shadowing won't really impact my future career decision, because although it was a good and informational experience, it's not really the kind of…

I grew up in Ghana, West Africa. As a result, I lived in a community that lacked sufficient basic health care. Most visits to the hospital were burdensome not only because of my illness at that time but also because of the sight of sick people without hospital beds and enough doctors. Each stay at the hospital left me wondering," What extraordinary skill do I need to provide good outcomes to Ghana's health care?" Through my experiences of job shadowing and volunteering both in Ghana and in the USA, I have come to realize that being an effective physician is not about doing something extraordinary. Genuine acts of service and sincere care for patients are those that can change a patient’s life.…
