Jamie Collins Case Study
The Cleveland Browns pulled off a stunning trade with the New England Patriots. Cleveland acquired linebacker Jamie Collins for a late third round pick. This pick was awarded to the Browns as compensation for losing key players to free agency so this ends up being a great deal.

However, it brings up numerous questions like why would New England give up such a young, coveted defender like Collins? It's a head scratcher if you think about it. Why would a winless team be buying before the trade deadline and what's the plan going forward?

From New England's standpoint, my guess is that their continuing on with the Bill Bellicheck way and refusing to overpay a veteran. In the past, they have not been afraid to trade away key players with expiring

The linebacker is ready to prove his worth and show Cleveland that he can be their franchise player. Half a season is enough time for Collins to showcase his talent and for the Browns to evaluate him. They have three options when the season comes to an end. They can let Collins leave in which they will receive a compensatory pick, they can sign him to a lucrative contract, or they can use their franchise tag on him.

Whatever they choose to do, the four year veteran is versatile enough to use in multiple areas. Collins was acquired to fill the void left by the release of Paul Kruger and Nate Orchard going on injured reserve. The Pro Bowler has great awareness and coverage skills. In fact, he can drop back and cover tight ends, something Chris Kirksey has struggled with. He can even be used as a pass rusher to help a team with just 14 sacks.

Ultimately, the Browns added a versatile defender who has recorded 43 tackles in seven games. He instantly joins fellow linebackers Kirksey (72) and DaMario Davis (52) as Cleveland's leading tacklers. He hopes to cut down on all the scoring. Not a single opposing team that Cleveland has faced has scored less than 25 points. It's almost impossible for the Browns to do any

Many have assumed that the fourth wide receiver spot on the roster would belong to TJ Jones, but Jace Billingsley made sure his name was being considered after the game against the Steelers. The New York Islanders hold a stronger financial resource capability than many of their competitors, such as Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets, which gives them a competitive advantage. With the likely hood of the New York Islanders enduring another venue change, their financial status gives them options and leeway in making this difficult decision, provided the opportunity arises. Also, there is $72 million equated towards player expenses, this helps with athletic performance because external expenses are not a strain on the athletes as they are covered and training becomes the number one priority (Forbes, 2016). This is important because high performance, translates to wins, which means more fans, in turn equals to more monetary assists. The also run a fairly high budget in regards to their community outreach programs, which is also a marketing ploy in a sense. They have community programs, player programs and their own foundation called “Islanders Children Foundation.” This is called a partnership; this is important because it can draw a new audience and raise the profile for the…

I think that Jamie Gilt did not learn her lesson about gun ownership because she would have posted something about realizing the dangers of owning a gun instead of posting about her son accidentally shooting her as something funny. Moreover, Jamie should be charged with negligence because she deliberately placed her gun somewhere that her son is able to reach and shoot her. Furthermore, she should have taught her son about the responsibilities of having a gun and the dangers of having one instead of teaching him that it's fun and should be used as toy then for serious circumstances. It really is a sad situation, but could have been prevented if she was more caution considering she is really passionate about having a gun. More importantly, she…

    2. Why? The owners capitalized and amortized 50 percent of the purchase price ($12 million) simply because the tax rules allowed it; therefore the depreciation was spread over six years and comes to a total of $2M deduction in income per year. However the players argue that they become more experienced over time, therefore no depreciation is necessary; instead, they argue, given this fact there should be an appreciation of the roster and not the other way around. The truth is that Revenues are influenced by the performance of players as the better the team does, the more fans come. Therefore, player rosters both appreciate and depreciate depending on the season and the overall success of the team including; new recruits, season statistics (wins/losses) etc, therefore it shouldn’t be a consistent depreciation simply because the IRS allows it, but should reflect the actual situation in any given year.…

This only statement is enough to realize that he need to change his behavior and that he need to be punished for what he did. If the NFL does not put a sanction over him, it will look that these behavior is nothing serious. As a professional athlete you have to be aware that million of people is going to follow you and that you are the example for million of kids. If people see that their “ heroes”(in some cases) do things like this, they are going to think those behaviors are fine and they are going to repeat it. The NFL, knowing the huge impact they have over the American people that follow it, must enforce good conduct and push their athletes to be an example for the people. That is why should not be reinstates and must be used as an example of how child abuse and violence cannot be…

Negotiation for a new CBA started at early 2011. The two main issues to be negotiated were the salary cap system and the BRI split. The owners claimed that current economic terms only suit teams with larger markets, and in fact many of them, 22 out of 30 in the last season, were losing large amount of money due to the unequal distribution of BRI. Therefore, they made a first offer by requesting to adopt a hard cap of $45 million instead of a soft one and to change the 57-43 split into a 37-63 split. The players Association doubted the reality of these figures, saying that it was critical, and turned down to the offer immediately. They also took action by calling for a lockout.2…
