Jamestown

After Christopher Columbus sailed for Spain and found America, many Europeans began to arrive to explore it and gain wealth and fame. Many people came to North America in search of religious freedom, wealth and fame. Many people also came for fur trade ways of development and land. Explorers looked for a Northwest Passage and other things to gain power for their country. The first successful Colony, Jamestown, was founded in 1607. In 1624 Jamestown became of royal colony with a governor after losing its charter. Later the pilgrims, a subgroup of the Puritans, traveled and founded Plymouth, the first English colony in present day Massachusetts.The pilgrims formed the Mayflower Compact because they were outside the boundaries of their charter and
First of all, we have a lot of freedom. We have freedom of religion where we can practice our religions in public. We can also read and learn about these religions. We also have Freedom of speech. We can voice our varying opinions about topics such as politics. We also have the freedoms to watch and and eat what we want. While this is not as important as the first two, I feel that it is still important. Next, as Americans we are mostly generous. We tend to reach out to people in need throughout the world. One such way was World war II as the allies. We also help people within our own country. During 9/11 many people gave money, food, and help to charities to help pay for expenses and clear debris. Many people now give money, work, or goods to homeless people or neglected animals. Because the United States has a lot of culture, I am also proud. We compose our own music and write our own songs. Many immigrants can bring culture from their home country and those things may become popular here. Compared to many countries including Burkina Faso, Rwanda, and Sri Lanka, our country is certainly lucky. Most Americans have homes and food, and all have access to clean
