We've had parents tell us, 'I came home the other day stressed out, And my daughter said, "Hey, Mom, you need to sit down. I need to teach you how to breathe." Then, If students still had to go to detention it would make the parents day a lot worse than it already was because they would have to sit And talk to their child about their choice decision And think of punishments at home And probably school And the child's because they already had to sit through detention a whole lot longer than they wanted. Without detention, kids would come home from a couple minutes of exercising And breathing habits And could teach their siblings, family And parents breathe And take some exercises And time for themselves when they are feeling stressed. Then the whole family would be calm And could have a relaxing day without fighting, drama or violence that usually goes on in the house And could probably go somewhere for a day since everybody is relaxed And had a awesome day. It would work out at school if a teacher is feeling stressed or a staff member or even one of their friends if they are having a poor day. But Destiny was not isolated, suspended or arrested. She wasn’t even sent to detention. Before a “justice panel” After all, Many schools that have detention, as mentioned, would have given the child a walk to the principal's office or even a talk with the counselor. The person who had committed to doing a act would have had some serious consequences for throwing a jacket out the window for no reason And just deciding to do it. But when the school has something called a “ Justice Panel” where you take your punishment And do it when told And not lying, just like if you were in court. That would be so much easier because you are telling the truth And if you were in detention, you probably would have lied until your teacher or principal had to bring in the person who had seen you break that law And eventually you would be in more trouble for lying to a adult teacher about it. So without a teacher having to tell you that you did something wrong And you had like a mini court session And told the absolute truth about what you did And you apologized to the person you did it to, would be better because you would start telling the truth And knowing that it is not okay And there is consequences for your
