Jackson Dean Research Paper

Jackson Dean - the first thing I ever learned about myself, something that has always been with me and will never change. Growing up with this name was very typical, it wasn’t like my name was something unheard of, of crazily odd, it was just normal. Other kids complained about their names and how they didn’t like them or how they sounded weird, but I never had that problem. To me, Jackson Dean is just a name passed down from previous generations, I never knew the true meaning of it, or why my parents picked it. Although, my parents did not choose my name because if it’s definition, or background, it is still very interesting to find out the true meaning. So why did my parents choose Jackson? What made Jackson appealing? In an interview I had with my parents, they answered these questions. As I asked, “Where did you get my name from?”, both of my parents answered. All that my Dad said was, “I picked it”, my Mom had more to say. She answered, “We didn’t know of any Jacksons’ at the time, we felt like it was very original, and masculine.” Later she added, “We also liked the options for calling you Jack or something, even though I wanted Jackson, we liked the option.”

Based on John, or Jacques, it means, God has been gracious; has shown favor. Obviously my parents didn’t choose this name because of it’s Scottish meaning, but knowing the background of my name and it’s origins, is very fulfilling to me. Now Dean, a name that runs in my family, I was a little more excited to find the meaning of this rather than Jackson. According to sheknows.com, Dean derives from the English term, denu, which means valley. What makes this really special is the fact that my parents had three miscarriages before me, and this means that God had been gracious in giving my parents their first child.
