On January 20th, Jackie Evancho stood on the steps of the U.S capitol and sang the national anthem for the incoming 45th President Donald Trump. Being able to sing the star spangled banner for the inauguration is quite the honor but Jackie received all sorts of feedback for representing Donald Trump. Throughout his campaign Donald had made anti-women claims and statements. Many people believe that performing for Trump amounts to some kind of capitulation to the anti-American ideals of the Trump campaign and transition. A day after the Inauguration a Women’s march packed the United States so there was a lot of controversy towards why Jackie would represent our President.
