Isolation In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Romeo And Juliet is an amazing play written by the all knowing William Shakespeare. It is a love story/tragedy that includes the two lovebirds Romeo and Juliet. They are from two different households that are enemies; Romeo is of the Montague family and Juliet is a Capulet. This makes it close to impossible for them to be together especially since Romeo killed Juliet’s cousin Tybalt whom Juliet’s parents loved very much. In the end, the couple ends up killing themselves over their “suicidal love” for each other. Over the course of the play, Romeo was supposedly in love twice. Once with Rosaline and then again of course with Juliet. At the beginning of the play he was infatuated with Rosaline and claimed that he would never get over her and
Romeo is an over emotional, possibly mentally ill individual with unnecessary love for women. He needs to learn how to control his emotions and take things slower. Also, Romeo was not in love with Rosaline nor Juliet; Romeo rather is in love with being in love itself. He loves to love, be loved, be over emotional, and also other things that come with being in love that don’t need to be mentioned. For the majority of her life, Juliet will have no choice in who she loves due to the time period and because of the isolation on Juliet by the parents. The only men that she has ever met or has had a chance with were men that her parents (especially her mother) picked out for her. Romeo and Juliet are not in love because Romeo is too emotional and Juliet was just looking for an escape from the clutches of her parents; William Shakespeare is trying to trick the reader into thinking that Romeo and Juliet are in love because he wants to show the reader how many millions of people are not in love with whom they are with, but simply with being in love itself; William Shakespeare is also be showing that there is no love at first site relative to the time

This quote is leading up to Capulet and Lady Capulet pushing Paris on Juliet and telling her that it is time to get married. When Paris and marriage are in the same sentence, you know that they are trying to start something. Juliet is not in love with Romeo. This quote shows a man that is well above her age being forced on her that she hasn’t even met or has made an emotional connection with yet. Juliet is also very emotional but not as emotional as Romeo is. Juliet is just in love with having a choice in men, not with Romeo. There was nothing special about Romeo. He was just a boy that she liked and didn’t waste any time getting to know him before they got married. Then again, Juliet probably didn’t know any better and getting married sooner than later was justifiably okay for the time period that the play takes place in.
