Macbeth's greed is a factor in his downfall because even everything isn’t enough. Macbeth is called a hero, yet he strives for more. He becomes Thane of Cawdor, but he wants to be king. Even when Macbeth becomes king, he makes sure there's nobody left alive who could overthrow him. In act one, scene one, on line 147, Macbeth says, “Come what come may, time and the hour runs through the roughest day.” Macbeth is saying that today has been a rough day, but good things are headed his way, and he deserves them.
A final reason Macbeth is responsible for his own downfall, is because in the end, people are responsible for their own actions.
