Maria Montessori explained the importance of “Cosmic Education” for children when they were young because children would understand the world around them, feel peaceful, be respectful and productive in their society in the future. Maria Montessori called this section of nature and connection to the environment “Cosmic Education”. Montessori educators should ensure that children experience nature as much as possible and retain their connection with the natural world. the Montessori equipment, materials, and activities involve many possible natural materials such as plants, wood, water, and sand to help children keep their connection to nature and to appeal to their developing senses. Maria Montessori considered cosmic education the backbone of Montessori education because it influences all other curricular areas. Reading, Writing, math, and practical life skills will be learned effectively when they are related to science, geography, history, music, or art.
Children will learn about their planet Earth where they live through the sand paper globe, colored globe, and pictures. Also, they will know the beginning of the universe, the history of the solar system, and the names of planets. Children will go further to know about the continents and sing the song of continents. They will get exposed to different countries, different cultures, and different kinds of music. Besides, they will be educated about different kinds of animals, plants, and the life cycle. Children will grow up deeply connected with their world. In this way, they will appreciate the feeling of respect and responsibility towards their society, their environment, and their planet. Cosmic Education aims to sow seeds of knowledge in the children’s mind to make them creative.
Cosmic Education is the backbone of Montessori education that provides a complete, organized and integrated framework in which children can learn. It aims to educate children with different cultures about their world, have hands on experience of nature, and support the sense of respect and responsibility to the environment. Through this exploration of science, history, geography, art, and music; the children’s mind will open to endless facts that would encourage them to be anxious to learn and explore.

“Let us give the child a vision of the whole universe. The universe is an imposing reality, and an answer to all question. We shall walk together on this path of life, for all things are a part of the Universe, and we are all connected with each other to form one whole unity” (Maria Montessori, 2007)

    Maria Montessori was the founder of the Montessori approach to education, she was born in Italy in 1870. As a teenager she was an engineer, but later she studied her favor major of medicine. Graduated as Italy's first female medical practitioner she embarked on a career in mental health. Following on from this she was asked to head up a childcare project for a social housing initiative and her first 'Children's House' opened in 1907. Here too she introduced the equipment she had designed and observed the children very closely as they used it, tailoring what she provided in the environment to meet their developmental needs. There was great astonishment at the amount of learning that these pre-school children showed themselves to be capable of, not least their explosion into 'writing'. From this time onward education became her life and she continued to develop educational theories to fit what she observed among the children in her care. She died in Holland in 1952. leaving an international legacy of Montessori schools and training centres around the world.…
