God word is the same today as it was back centuries ago. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Christians know there is no one on this earth that has not sin. We all have done some things that we are not proud of but we know that God is a merciful and forgiving God. So many times we want the word to work the way we want it to work and not the way God has intended for it to work in our lives. Christians should not cause confusion in the Word of God. 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” I use to always think the passage was only talking about marriage. I do believe it also speaks about not surrounding yourself with people that does not believe in God. This passage still holds truth as it did centuries ago. In conclusion, God’s Word should always be interpreted correctly. It should never be intended for what God did not want it to be intended. His word gives us instruction how He wants us to live. We must obey God’s Word and also read His word on a daily basis or as often as we can. Again, it is good to use different translations of the Bible but make sure we have a good commentary to follow. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Christians should want to study God’s Word and share it with others. We as Christians have to learn to be able to discern what is good and what is bad. Christians should study the epistles and get familiar with them by understanding them as well.

“Every reader or believer does hermeneutics whether they realize it or not.15 There are some basic rules of hermeneutics is that the text “cannot mean what its original intent or meant, to the authors or the audience it was original intended.16 Basic rule number two is when one share common particulars with the audience. God’s word does not change it stay the same. It’s the same to us as it is was for the original audience.17 The author’s talks about how careful exegesis comes into play now, especially when there is an underlying idea in place. The author asked the question if it was appropriate to practice an extended application of a given text that there a contextual parallel or a specific parallel to the modern situation. He answered emphatically no! If one blows the text all out of portion beyond the direct parallel, he argues, then why uses exegesis.18 One has to remember that Scripture cannot be used or applied out of context; it is stated that the reader must be careful not to read more into a Scripture that is not there.19 The twenty-first century is cultural different from the first century so one must be careful when applying or teaching because one cannot use Scriptures out of context.20 What the author said to help in this situation is, the interpreter needs to have a solid exegesis of the text, so the principle may transfer to the modern culture.21…

In order to understand this passage, an overview of chapters 9 to 11 will be considered as it forms part of Paul 's discussion (although it is possible take into consideration the entire epistle, it is not necessary to discuss beyond the context). In Communicating for a Change, we look at three different possibilities for “communicating from the Scriptures,” challenging his students to learn, but also to teach teachers how to transform their presentations to effect change in their listeners.1 The author identifies three ways or goals of how people can be taught Scriptures. The first goal is to teach the Bible to the people. The idea is to teach the content of the bible so the people can understand and navigate through scriptures.2 This approach is used when a person simply wants to explain the Bible. This approach does not require creativity or increased application but does require a great deal of interest from listeners. The second goal…

For example, Jesus’ references in the Sermon on the Mount of “an eye for an eye,” “a certificate of divorce,” and “vows” all carried a greater understanding in Jesus’ time than Matthew explains in his Gospel. However, Jesus’ audience would have immediately known how to apply those teachings to their lives because they had be taught by Rabbis. Yet, Jesus then implemented Greek rhetoric to underscore his argument—taking their understanding to a whole new level. This is why a proper understanding of Greek rhetoric is necessary for people to day as well. Finally, as James Gregory states “We can conclude that Jewish authors could compose documents according to Greek rhetoric and allow their interpretations of Scripture to function within that structure” (Gregory). In other words, we must allow the text to stand within itself full of Old Testament interpretation and Greek rhetoric rather than skipping over what is…

Being able to understand why the Bible is the Word of God is important. If you are not able to clearly articulate why the Bible is the Word of God, then your witness to others is affected. The article, Arguments that the Bible is the Word of God, provides us with 10 arguments that the Bible is spoken Word from God. I think the most convincing argument that the Bible is the Word of God is the unique revelation of Jesus Christ because it simply puts whom Jesus Christ is and how the Bible clearly states the deity of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us that the unique revelation of Jesus Christ is “that the person of Christ existed before Creation, that He was the Creator, that He manifested Himself in the Old Testament through Christophanies, that He was born of a virgin and came into the world as the God-man.” (Page 1, Arguments that the Bible is the Word of God). What stands out most to me is that Jesus was born of a virgin. No other person in history is documented to be born from a virgin other than Jesus Christ.…
