Interpersonal Communication In Scandal
Interpersonal communication is the method of sharing messages amongst two or more people. The hit television series “Scandal” directed by Shonda Rhymes is an intense plot with a group of people (Nicknamed Gladiators) that help people clean up scandals. Many conflicts arise during each episode between multiple individuals. The conflicts involve a variety of different scenarios between Olivia Pope and her team as well as White House Officials. Olivia Pope has an history of working in the White House under the President and carrying on an affair with him. The episode I decided to watch is “Gladiators Don’t Run” in season 4. Abby worries about Olivia when she can ‘t reach her and visits her home. When Abby arrived at Olivia’s she noticed wine …show more content…
The President is getting worried about Olivia because he found out that his Vice-President is involved with the disappearance of Olivia. The scene changes and the Vice-President tells kidnappers to make sure Olivia is safely returned back to president, but the Terrorists still keep Olivia hostage for a bidding war. Captain Jake Ballard along with Olivia’s team is desperately trying to find a way to get into the bid so they seek out help from Olivia’s parents. The president orders his secretary Cyrus to hand over a letter of resignation for the Vice-President. The Vice-President doesn’t agree and the president isn’t too happy about it so he tries to come up with different ways to get the Vice-President out of office. The President’s relationship with the Vice-President is very rocky and almost nonexistent since he found out his wife has been seeing him. There has been no common ground for the two men. The Vice-President is trying to get President Fritz out of office by trying to sabotage him by sleeping with his wife and having Olivia kidnapped because she is the president’s weakness. Olivia doesn’t think she will bid for that much money. Huck and Jake try to enter online to bid for Olivia. The Vice-President’s other mistress seeks out Huck to do her a …show more content…
Cyrus is trying to undermine the President and have U.S. attack terrorist which he knows Olivia could possibly die from that. President Fitz is a nervous wreck about Olivia still as the ending of the bid approaches. Olivia is safely returned home and meets with her team and a surprise visit from the President. Their mediated channels are off and while he is happy to see her she doesn’t want to be involved with him. Olivia understands that all she has been through with the terrorists was all due to her personal relationship with the Presidents which is dangerous. This episode contains a lot of misperceptions among individuals. There were so many conflicts occurring all at once that kept me on the edge of my bed. Olivia’s relationship with President has caused many issues in the series and she tries her hardest to end things but he won’t let her. Olivia has been very open about her feelings but the President sends mixed signals at times. I am ready for the new episode this Thursday to see how things will go since Olivia’s return. I think the President should have gone to other officials and tell them about his issues with the Vice-President. If outside officials were to come in and observe things, then the situation with Olivia would’ve probably never

The Nixonland Cheney created focused on a presidency for Geroge W. Bush defined by foreign policy, fewer checks and balances, a fascination with violence, and secrecy. Vice President Dick Cheney was the most powerful vice president because he controlled who spoke to the President and what information reached him. Cheney’s manipulation of the President happened through his legal counsel, David Addington. Addington rewrote memos and manipulated the language before Cheney passed them along to the President for a final signature. Cheney was getting laws passed and bills signed without consulting Congress and completely disregarding checks and balances. Former President Richard Nixon is saying in his response to the interviewer, that a president approves of situations thinking he is does what is best for the people of the United States. The president also expects the people to carry out the situation by obeying all laws. Otherwise, the president is asking citizens to break laws and puts the people in charge of these tasks in an impossible position. The Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, says the United States does not torture and only does what is right for it’s people. Rice goes on to say if any citizen had authority at the time of September 11th, they would have done anything in their power to make the United States safe.
