Cancer is a very general term for over 100 diseases grouped together. There are many different types of cancer; almost anything in your system and body is susceptible to this disease. Your body is made up of millions of cells; normal cells grow and then divide into newer ones causing the old ones to die. When a person is growing, in the early stages of their life, cells divide faster than usual helping the individual grow. As a person becomes an adult, a lot of cells divide so they then can replace old ones that have already been worn out or to repair different injuries. This is means that the cells are growing way out of control, not giving time for the other cells to die, causing abnormal cells to form. These cancer cells are strong and have the ability to invade tissue, which normal cells cannot do. The growing and invading of these cells are what make the cancer cells what they are. What causes these cancer cells to become that is a change in their DNA; in a…

I race to the hospital, she's in surgery getting chemo implanted into her spine, and all of my family's eyes are red, they've been crying. My mom sits me down and tells me that even though 2 months before, she was claimed to be cancer free, it has spread into her spinal fluid. The doctor told us she would have 6 months if she was lucky. The cancer in her cerebral spinal fluid was building up on her brain and causing pressure. A few days…

My grandpa and aunt received this message on a post card when they were diagnosed with cancer. It hangs on their refrigerator to remind them.
