Individual Rights In Ayn Rand's Anthem

“Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).” Here in the quote the author Ayn Rand explains that you can take away some things from the people, but one thing that you can’t take away is the minority rights. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand she says about how the world would be like if people were the exact same and they didn’t have these rights. In the world Rand creates people should care more about themselves. She put the idea of individualism in the book Anthem because she thought that it was important to for people to know how important being yourself is and not having to be like everyone else. The society in this book is a very exact society where everyone one is the same. In the book Rand says, “I am. I think. Rand wanted to show that collectivism is about how you care more about the group than yourself.She says, “We were born with a curse. It has always driven us to thoughts which are forbidden. It has always given us wishes, which men may not wish. We know that we are evil, but there is no will in us and no power to resist it. This is our wonder and our secret fear, that we know and do not resist.” I comprehended that is is a good quote that she expressed because everyone is born quite much the same but equality 7-2521 was the one who broke out of the norm.
