To be crass is to be uncaring, or uneducated on a sensitive matter. Many people in the world come to a decision brashly or hastily with what they say and it comes out in a very ignorant way. Occurrences like this are becoming more frequent now than ever. This is because there are more problems that occur nowadays for people to have different opinions on. In Wonder, Julian acts crassly towards August throughout the whole story. He treats him like garbage and doesn't feel bad. He wasn't educated by his parents on people with disabilities like this and thus treated August poorly. Not because he was rude and obnoxious, but because he was ignorant. This proves that Julian was crass through his ignorance to the matter at hand and what he did with the area of missing knowledge.
This is proven to be due to the people being unknowing of his facial deformations when he mentions to them it's not a mask and that he actually looks like that. The TV show Arrow has a lot of examples of crassness. Oliver Queen seems like just an extravagant millionaire playboy. People call him out as being arrogant, cocky, and uncaring. Little do they know he is working as hard as he can as the vigilante “The Arrow” to save the city that treats him poorly.
