Military conquest was one of the primary reasons why Islam spread so quickly. The Document C “Spread of Islam” map shows that between 622 and 750, the Islamic world expanded to Saragossa in the north and as far as Kabul to the east. On the map, there are arrows traveling in many directions. These arrows represent military campaigns. It seems that wherever these arrows go, the land is almost always converted into Islamic territory, therefore, the army’s operations prove to be successful. The significant amount of land claimed shows that the Islamic troops are a force to be reckoned with. According to the Document F al-Baladhuri excerpt, “Hereclius gathered [a] large Byzantine army … numbering about 200,000...By Allah’s help, some 70,000 of them…

Since 9/11, Arab immigrants, Muslim and non-Muslim, and other Muslim immigrants have faced much racial profiling by U.S. government officials. The latter have rejected more Arab visa applications, such as from tourists and business people. Immigration regulations have been violated, or restrictions have been applied disproportionately to Arab and other Muslim immigrants. A year after the creation of the Department of Homeland Security in 2002, the new agency gained control of immigrants and conducted a special registration program for men who had entered legally from twenty-five countries, all but one predominantly Arab or Muslim. These men were required to be photographed and fingerprinted. Although much of this profiling program was soon…

Muslim leaders in North Africa and India saw the needs for nationalism in the Muslim areas and took on the issue of westernization as they saw right. A portion of Muslims wanted to welcome western ideas. And others didn't want western ideas around, they thought they needed to be one in their own nations, not in the Nations of the west. Some saw westernization as a flawed idea or solution, and used parts of westernization that would help them the most, and still allow them economic freedom.…

Out of all of the individuals that I had the pleasure of discussing this topic with the number one response that I received was immigration. I was not shocked to hear this because of everything that we have seen and heard about over the past few years in regards to terrorism and citizenship. This is an issue that is very controversial and a main platform for candidates in both major parties. Although immigration was their main focus the next few issues they described were quite different. The five students said their main focuses were the Board of Education and student debt, the environment, and minority rights. However, the adults I spoke with said the issues they found most important in addition to immigration was Health Care, Abortion, and…

From the 5th C.E. century to the year 1325, the spread of Islam occurred in the trans- Saharan area in Africa. The spread of Islam impacted many of these societies, affecting the rule of kings, changing the daily lives of many people, and changing the religions. However, these changes did not transpire by themselves. The spread of Islam was possible because of the trade and merchants in the Sahara, the many kings and their servicemen, and the journey to Mecca made by Mansa Musa.…
