The Enlightenment had many new conceptions and views throughout various nations, by putting and emphasis on science and natural law over religious authority. Some of these ideas were about man's natural rights, freedom of speech, democracy just to name a few of the beliefs that came about during this time period. Each of these philosophers had introduced some new beliefs that would help change the world. Montesquieu was a french philosopher that preached the separation of power in the government. He believed that not just one person should have all of the power, he thought different people should have power to keep the government fair and balanced. The three parts of government are Legislative that creates the laws, Executive that enforces the laws, and Judicial which applies the laws. This separated the government into three parts so one part can not have to much power acting like a check and balance system. This is still in effect today in many different countries around the world. This is used in the British government and some other governments around the world.
