I would want to refer him for counselling if it turned out that there were deep rooted issues of emotional abuse from his mother, or any other abuse that had resulted in his feelings of low self- worth. From speaking with him I would hope to evaluate if I felt he was on the autism spectrum or suffers from Asperger syndrome as these types of people are good at following routine and can function normally, buy would not active seek any change themselves as it would disrupt them and their functioning. Hypnosis for these people would have to be very literal so wording would have to be carefully looked at.
