Hy-Vee Career Personal Statement
When I first began my job at Hy-Vee as a courtesy clerk in 2014, I never knew I would grow to enjoy the grocery store atmosphere so much. I go into work everyday proud of working for a company that takes pride in itself and it’s employees. As of today, Hy-Vee plays a valuable role in educating me with customer service, problem solving, and time management.
Since I am still in high school, time with friends along with extracurricular and curricular studies took most of my time outside of work. As I progressed through the first couple of months of my Hy-Vee career, I began to enjoy my job more. Helping customers and watching them leave satisfied put a smile to my face and made work rewarding. I began to think about other job opportunities within

First, the job was very hard. There were a lot of heavy deliveries every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I had to carry heavy boxes of over 50 pounds to the store. Then I would clean and organize the shelves before customers arrived. Sometimes, I worked from 8:00 to 2:00 nonstop. I had to skip my lunch. After a 20-minute break, I returned to work until 8:00. I went home hungry and exhausted.…

Upon entering my freshman year of college I recognized I was not fully prepared for the rigorous academic scheme provided at my school, Howard University. One of the main observations was my peers received educational training in Advanced Placement General Chemistry, Advanced Placement Organic Chemistry and even had the opportunity to attend actual college courses during his/her high school careers. Those classes were not an option for me through my high school. Soon I found myself falling into a pit of failure. Long hours of studying and tutoring only produced D’s, F’s and an occasional C on my Chemistry reports. I was thoroughly ready to quit. I still remember sitting in my professor’s office in tears when he informed me that my academic…

My interest in the media world started back when I was in 7th grade. This spark first began in photography and has done nothing but grown since then. As I grew older this curiosity went from photography to television. The particular aspect of this field that draws my attention is the world of producing. Although I do not have any prior experience with producing, I know that an internship with WVUA 23 would be the perfect first step in one day becoming a producer. I learn very quickly and I will not stop something until it is completed in a proper manner. I am very eager to learn everything I can about producing and I know I will be able to do so through this internship. I enjoy working in a team-oriented setting where there is one common goal, as I am able to get along with all different types of people. I do not feel that any job is beneath me, and I am willing to do whatever possible in order to gain knowledge in…

A person that has made me see my values and passions more than anyone would be my highschool art teacher, Ms. Shriner. When I was in highschool, I was the secretary for the club she ran, DBYEA (Daniel Boone Youth Education Association). Although I had no interest in becoming a teacher, I loved what she stood for her and her community involvement. She made me and many others feel like we were not too young and insignificant to do something. We grew into a family, and were a part of something greater than ourselves.…

Before I went back to school I had worked at several places that paid minimum wage and did not offer much room for advancement. When considering my attributes as a medical school applicant, I am convinced that I would be a great fit for the Creighton University School of Medicine community. As mentioned in my previous response, I am from a Christian background and intend to continually pursue my relationship with God throughout my years in medical school. Seeing as though Creighton is founded in a religious tradition, my belief in God makes me an excellent example for the reinforcement of the Catholic tradition. My heart has been set on the pursual of good and helping others since a very young age which has led me to a career in medicine, a character trait that fits in well with Creighton University’s endeavor to improve the human condition. As well as my religious background and heart to serve others, I place a lot of emphasis on self-discipline and strive for excellence in all aspects of my life.…

I don't complain when I wake up in the morning to go to work, but instead I look forward to going to work. With the process of detailing cars at my job, it tends to satisfy me and lets the time fly by. When my senior year was over and college was coming up I had to think fast of what I wanted to do with my life and what classes I wanted to take. With talking to my sister-in-law who had a good knowledge of many jobs, she mentioned her good friend was a dental hygienist. I did some research on the career and found out that it consists of teeth cleaning, and preventing from any mouth and gum disease from spreading and even preventing them from occurring.…

    My Work Experience

I have chosen to write about my work experience since it has been a very educating and eye opener in what the job force holds and entails to a new employee. I had been trying to get a job since I was 14 years old but no one was hiring at that age. Finally at 16 and after many applications, I was given an opportunity to work for Winn Dixie. I experienced just how hard is to look for a job and the disappointments of getting “we will call you” every time I went in to a company. When I was offered this job I was so excited and so eager to start. It was long awaited. My family was struggling with bills. I couldn’t have what some of my friends had because my family couldn’t afford it and just being deprived of so many activities that costs money. So I was ready to work immediately. I was sent to get Drug Tested and a Background check and both tests were passed. I was trained to be a Cashier. Then finally I took my position as a Cashier. I work part time because I do not want my studies to be compromised. I am an Honor Student and I need my GPA in excellent standings for my future school plans. I have learned what it entails to be responsible to my job, to my customers and finally the compensation of having worked by getting a paycheck. I have now helped my parents with needs I can offer and this feels great. I want to go further in life and be able to multiply what I started with into a profession I can be proud off and help my family and…
