The Hunger Games was an action packed thriller. It had some highs and lows, but overall I give this movie a 6/10. This movie starts out in a very poor district twelve. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is a young, mature girl who has to fight and break laws to keep her family alive. Katniss would do anything to save her younger sister Prim, and we know that because Katniss volunteered as tribute to take her sisters place in the Hunger Games (where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television). To shorten it I will tell you that the rules for winning the games were changed and Katniss and Peeta, Josh Hutcherson, (the other tribute from her district) return to district twelve. In the story there is some romance between Katniss and Peeta (some was fake, but there was something real in the story). The Movie was okay in my opinion.
In this movie they left out a lot of things from the book. I thought some of the casting was good. Haymitch, Peeta, Katniss, Prim, Rue, Effie, and a lot of the minor characters were very good. I think President Snow was a lot different than my imagination because in the book he is supposed to be very thin, but in the movie he is not very small. The Costumes were a little weak. They didn’t meet all of my expectations. The fire dress was very disappointing. I was expecting they would do much more with the fire costumes too. I think that the capital outfits were good and almost as crazy as the book described. In the arena and district twelve the costumes were fine, but there was nothing special.
There were a lot of edits in this movie. There were small things like how in the movie Katniss actually hits Marvel in the throat when she kills him and not the chest. There were many big things they left out of the movie. First Madge gives Katniss the mocking jay pin, not a lady from the hob. They left a lot about food in the movie. In the book
