David Batstone is a professor of business and social responsibility at the University of San Francisco. He is also an author and journalist, writing regularly for newspapers such as the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and USA Today, and the magazines Wired and Spin. Professor Batstone is the cofounder and president of the Not For Sale Campaign, an organization that keeps abreast of the current situation of human trafficking. It is a hands-on organization, doing updated research on slavery, offering courses in citizenship investigation, consumer fair-trade advocacy, innovative aftercare, and awareness courses for health care professionals. The Not For Sale Campaign also provides information on how to start a Not For Sale Club on high school and college campuses to incite young people to join with other students to abolish human slavery. Professor Batstone’s book Not for Sale focuses on the true stories of personal loss, heartbreak, and struggles before being rescued from the human trafficking underworld. This resource will be useful for information gained from personal experiences as told to David Batstone in his travels, as well as his experiences right here in the United States. This resource may also provide practical, hands-on information for those persons interested in getting involved in the attempt to eradicate human trafficking, but don’t know how or where to start.
