Human Resource Sergeant in the Profession of Arms
The Human Resources Sergeant plays a critical role in the Army profession of arms. In this essay, I will cover what it means to be a profession, the balancing role of the profession’s leaders and how the two relates to the HR Sergeants role in the Army.
To call yourself a professional it takes creative and critical thinking skills, along with years of experience, research and providing effective answers or products depending on your profession. “Professions earn the trust of their clients through their Ethic - which is their means of motivation and self-control” (The Profession of Arms, 2010). The military can relate to this in many ways, such as “All Soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership, I will provide that leadership” (Creed Of A Non-Commissioned Officer, 1973). To provide outstanding leadership to your Soldiers, you will use experience gained from throughout the years. You will not only gain experience but also conduct research that would reinforce that experience, which in return will provide the skill’s necessary to think creatively and critically to provide effective answers and training that will result in obtaining trust from your Soldiers. The first is balancing the relationship between the army’s field of expertise which is current and potential operating environments. Without balancing the army’s expertise, the army will not be as effective in deployed and overseas operations. Without this balance, the Army cannot complete its mission, because it will be incapable of understanding the potential threats, equipment and training that is required become successful in current and future operations.
