Human Life In Michael Reeves's Delighting In The Trinity
The question is asked what does it mean to claim that God is triune and how does this bear upon human life? Merriam-Webster (2018) defines triune as three in one, or relating to the Trinity, the triune God consisting of three parts, members or aspects (Webster 2018). To claim that God is triune would mean that there is a knowledge as well as a belief in the Trinity of God and that God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is triune has a bearing on Human Life because God is Holy and He is the creator of the world and as humans he has a major effect on the come of each of our lives. But for the believer His ways becomes our ways, therefore it affects how we act, live, think, love, and how we treat others. As well as our character …show more content…
Reeves book allows us an opportunity to see the bearing triune God have on human life because the Holy Spirit makes us aware and opens our eyes so that we are able to experience and share in the Son who delights in the father the most. Therefore when we love the Son which is Jesus Christ, then that love is transcended to the father as well. According to Reeves (2012) that is what it means to be “godly” he states we are like God when we love the Son, John 8:42 tell us “Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent …show more content…
James 1:5 tells us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. It is God’s will that we have a purposeful life that is ordained by Him. It is His desire that our lives are in line with His will for us. Christopher Wright (2010) in his book the “The Mission of God’s People” tells us he reveals God’s purpose and goal for his whole creation. He stated that “Paul called it the “whole will plan of God” Acts 20-27; Ephesians 1:9-10.” “Part of that divine mission, God has called into existence is a people who will participate with God in the accomplishment of that mission.” “All of our mission comes from the prior mission of God and it is broad in scope. Mission arises from the heart of God himself, and is communicated from his heart to ours. It is the global outreach of the global people of a global God” (pg.

The author in this article questions the gender of god in the face of the onslaught of the question of the female divine; the varied criticisms and the study of the scriptures where God declares to Moses “I am that I am.” The article goes on to defend the male divine in that it argues from religious studies, scriptures and published studies the male nature of God from a Christian’s standpoint. Taking on certain criticisms and arguing against them point by point, the article is a reaction to the threat of women’s liberation and the wave of studies on the female divine. The author of this article goes on to reiterate the actions taken on by other religions to fall into a certain political correctness when discussing god, removing his gender which the author believes is confusing. Since the establishment of early Christianity as God is seen as the “Holy father” and Jesus as His “only Son”, the author of this article argues that God has no gender and that even with the male divine argument, God exists outside sexual differentiation. The attributes of the Male divine in God is due to the fatherhood personified in human worship of 'Him' and the female attributes come from the “female acts” that God is seen to perform according to the scriptures. Even then, the question of God's gender in this article while 'made invalid' due to God's “motherhood” still pronounces the “male divine” being that 'God' even from a Christian viewpoint due to the Jewish patriarchal nature of the Old Testament being that Jewish Theology is heavy on male transcendence. Judaism sees patriarchy as the mandate of giving life and of making reality - women need the male to “be heavy with child”, to look after the family, to carry the line from generation to generation. Thompson however argues that while this is so, the Male Divine is just a manifestation of the “wholeness” that is “God the Holy Spirit” and “Spirits” do not inhibit a corporeal body so gender does not limit them. The Dvine is…

In Genesis, God declared to Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply, and subdue the earth. The mission of being the starting point of God's creation of man and woman is a monumental duty that was bestowed upon them from God. These stories and declarations show what God can do with man. When our heart is open and willing to submit and proclaim the truth. The impossible can and does happen. Missions can be one of great peril or one in which you go off into the unknown chartering a course that has never been done by any human before. Adam and Eve were brave to venture out into the unknown, and Moses was noble in confronting evil. and King David was righteous in declaring the goodness of God to all…

Everyone wants to have a purpose in life. Christians find their purpose in glorifying their Creator. This is accomplished by being a light to the fallen, sinful world; showing them the glory seen through the death and resurrection of our Lord (Matthew 27-28, Matthew 5:13-16). Glorifying God can be accomplished through a variety of actions such as worshipping, obedience, and prayer but the main purpose is found in Matthew 28: 18-20 in the passage known as the Great Commission. If we are not making disciples then we are glorifying God for others to see. Glorifying God goes beyond the intimate moments of prayer or worship but is an outward expression, sanctification, which allows the whole world to see something is different. “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven,” (Matthew…

But free will gets in the way and choices are made that are not in his plan, so my purpose was not clear to me. I didn't have a goal. Amazingly, God gives us a second chance (or 2 or 20) and in our obedience He shows us what is best for us, what He wants for us. It was in this season of my life, in obedience to Him, that He revealed His purpose to me. He gave me a goal. I was at my women's bible sturdy and talking about God's plans for each of us, when my friend said that she was being called to go back to school and become a Christian Counselor for teens. She explained how her involvement in the lives of the teens at our church had greatly impacted her and the decision to go back to college and "make it official". Many months before this moment, I had been praying that He would reveal His plan for me. I had been looking for a lightning bolt, but He whispered to me, "this is what I have for you." I'm not involved with the teens as my friend is, I knew that wasn't specifically for me. But a Christian counselor, Yes, this was it! I had spent the last few months walking through a tough time with my sister, sharing tears, ideas and counsel. I had become a leader in the women's ministry at my church and grown…

The Question of Meaning/Purpose- We as Christians believe that our purpose is to do the will of God. John 15:16(ESV Bible) we are appointed to go and bear fruit. In Matthew 28:19(ESV Bible) we are commanded to go and make disciples. Through-out the Bible, God has charged us with being the salt of the earth and light of the world, He has commanded us to go and compel them to come so that his house may be filled. As we can see our main purpose is to live a life that exemplifies Christ and leads others to Him.…
