Resource: Ch. 3 of Social Policy and Social Programs
Write a 300-word analysis of a program sponsored by the same agency or organization you used in the Week One CheckPoint. Use the six fundamental policy elements described in Ch. 3 as a guide. Keep in mind that a mission is different from goals and objectives. A mission is a statement of what the program is, why it exists, and the contributions it can make. It is usually short and concise, and describes a program’s reason for existing or its primary concern.

The National Campaign has an Entertainment Media program that they use to bring awareness to everyone, from teens and adults to policy makers, about unplanned pregnancies. According to "Entertainment Media, The National Campaign To Prevent Teen And Unplanned Pregnancy" (2012), “The goal of The National Campaign’s Entertainment Media program is to get messages about pregnancy prevention and consequences to our target audiences via the entertainment media they already like to consume. This includes television, magazines, websites, and blogs. We do this by cultivating relationships and partnerships with media leaders, educating them about our issues, supporting their efforts to include our issues, and collaborating with them to produce fresh, engaging, and relevant content.” (para. 1).
Currently, they support a number of television shows. One in particular called “High School Mom’s” is showing on the Discovery Fit & Health channel. It is a new unscripted series about the young mothers enrolled at Denver’s Florence Crittenton High School, a high school that helps pregnant or parenting teen girls raise their kids while also earning a degree. By supporting this show The National Campaign hopes to show that even when an unplanned pregnancy happens there are ways to finish your degree and graduate.

Accounting consists of basic assumptions, principles, and constraints. There are four basic assumptions of accounting that are the fundamental basis of any set of accounts. The four basic assumptions of accounting include: monetary unit assumption, economic period assumption, time period assumption, and going concern assumption. Monetary unit assumption states that only transaction data that is expressed in terms of money can be included in the accounting records. Economic period assumption states that the activities of the entity should be kept separate and distinct from the activities of the owner and of all of the other economic entities. Time period assumption states that the economic life of a business can be divided into artificial time periods. Going concern assumption states that the company will continue in operation long enough to carry out its existing objectives.…

From looking at the ratio calculations Luna has a few things they could work on to help their profitability problems. I’ll start with looking at their operating profit margin which is steadily declining while gross profit is consistent indicating a large increase in operating expenses that have grown more than the percentage increase in sales, which in turn affects overall profit. Luna’s net profit margin return on assets is suffering consistently as well, but this is part of the decline in operating profit. The total asset turnover is declining indicating that the asset utilization rate is declining with it. Operating profit is also the reason why the return to equity is suffering constant losses too which makes Luna’s debt ratio at 50% which is scary number in business. You can take from this analysis that we can conclude the main reason for Luna’s profitability problems is largely to the increase in operating profits. They should consider looking into asset utilization, discontinued operation, an income from an outside source or effect of extraordinary items. Luna should develop a system to better help them keep track of their expenses and put forth any addition expensed to increase sales and promote efficient use of the company’s resources as well as avoid any unnecessary expenses. Profitability ratios are important to an organization because they help measure an originations ability to generate profit for a period in time. There are a few ways to measure profitability ratios: Gross profit margin is calculated by gross profit margin divided by the sales; Operating profit margins are calculated by operating profit margin divided by sales; Net profit margin is calculated by net profit margin divided by sales; Return of assets calculated by net profit dived by average total asset; Return of equity is calculated by net profit divided by total…

There are a few differences and similarities among small, medium, and large facilities concerning the organization of patient records and in how they handle loose reports. I have noticed that most facilities prefer that their loose records are permanently anchored in their charts, which makes sense to me because it prevents the loose reports from being misplaced and lost. However, the different sizes of facilities tend to organize patient files differently according to each particular facility’s policies. The most popular methods of organization that I have seen include chronologically, form numbers, report type, and category.…

Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations are the factors that are needed to motivate employees to put fourth their best effort so they can be great at what they do in the work place. Managers strive to achieve a job well done by their employees, they must help by making sure they provide the best qualities and work factors to motivate them to do the best they can. In order to be noticed by superiors so they might advance or be promoted within the organization with these motivations in place it’s easier for the employees to do their best. Both styles of motivation are designed to meet the needs of employees so they feel safe and productive in the work place. Intrinsic motivation meets needs that motivate one to grow personally, achieve goals, become responsible and be recognized for their work, extrinsic factors fit physiological, safety, and security needs. Extrinsic factors or hygiene factors can either supply the employee with a high level of satisfaction. The hygiene factors don’t motivate the employees to perform at a high level such as intrinsic motivators, but they do allow the worker to be happy with their job therefore staying dedicated to it.…

There are five steps in the claims adjudication process. Initial processing is the first step. Initial processing finds any problems such as; name, identification number, or the plan of service code is wrong. This has to be fixed before anything further can happen. Automated review is a system that checks for ten things that maybe reflected on their payment policy. The review checks for the following; patient’s time limits for filing claims, referral forms, preauthorization, and the patient’s eligibility benefits, bundled codes, non-covered services, medical review, concurrent care, utilization review, and duplicate dates of service. The third step is manual review. Manual review happens if problems occur from the previous review; the claim is suspended and set aside for development. This step is usually followed to review the medical necessity of an unlisted procedure. Determination is the fourth important step. This is where the decision is made to pay it, deny it, or to pay it at a reduced level. If the service falls within normal standings, it will be paid. If it is not reimbursable, the item on the claim is denied. If the examiner determines that the service was at too high a level for the diagnosis, a lower-level code is assigned. The last step is making a payment. If payment is due, the payer sends it to the provider along with a transaction that explains the payment decisions to the provider. Adjudication process is an important process because it checks for any errors that may have been missed on the claim, this will allow for a more accurate process and things will be done in a timely manner.…

An organization has to make a format for the information gathered. There are a few questions that should be considered. What are the minimum qualifications? What are the educational and experience requirements? Are there any special personal characteristics needed for the jobs? Knowing how well the current staff fits the new profile is essential when gathering the needed information. Gathering employee information for the current workers makes it easier to keep track of what each employee can do to benefit the organization. While gathering information the organization has to know how many positions are available in the agency. Past information that is gathered can help keep track of this type of information.…

Guess what? I am so excited! I have just been promoted to Program Manager! I am going to make such a difference for this Organization. There will be so much to do you know, with the Programs since they all have a limited time on them. Things like Purpose of Evaluations so that I can review and possibly make it better for the outcome of service/program, Evaluative Research which I can look into research on methods, Descriptive Research will be awesome because I can explain what is in the studying that goes on. The Theory is a great one; it is facts, propositions that are used in the relationship to everything of the program activities. I will be able to Input so that I can step in and use the proper methods and help with the staffing of the service that is being needed. I can oversee the Outputs as well making sure that the outcomes of the services are achieved. There is a Service Delivery Model which is the activity going on to what makes the turning the input and going to the output. Any Organization or human services needs a solid foundation in order to run properly and to be successful and achieve the end results that are to me mandatory so if there are any problems and things are not going as expected then there will have to be an evaluation and a deeper look into that organization of what the problem is to which I will call the Needs and problem Assessment. However the Outcomes of all of this will always be changing and new ways and theories to improvement on the status of services as you well know. I know that I am going to be the best that I can be and make a difference and I just had to share this with you because you have been my inspiration and role model in human services and my best friend.…

The mission of an organization is an agreement to a plan on how the organization will be an effective organization. The direction of the organization is set up and followed through the mission and serves as a guideline to each program on how to follow through with the values the organization would like to represent. Without a mission the organization would not know how or what to focus on leaving the organization unsuccessful and the same rings true for the individual programs. If the programs don’t focus on the mission it leaves the whole organization vulnerable to failure.…
