Howard Phillips Lovecraft
Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American writer of horror fiction; born in Providence, Rhode Island, the 20th of November of 1890; same city where he eventually died.
Was the only child of a merchant, Winfield Scott Lovecraft and Sarah Susan Phillips. His father died on 1895, causing that he and his mother moved with his grandfather. Of his childhood is known that he was constantly sick and had frequently terrible nightmares, maybe one of the first sources of inspiration for his histories, also because of the oppressive education provided by his mother he turned himself into a frail kid who overturne his fears and traumas in new stories and characters besides his preferred ones belonging to his favourite authors, like Poe, Bierce and Lord

Lately he couldn’t finish his studies because an increase of his nervous attacks that caused him to leave the school. This fact emphasized his withdrawal and introversion, making him avoid contact with people for really long periods where he focused on writing poetry and stories.
Finally, when he started to be literary acknowledged by his histories published on “Weird Tales” his character also suffered some changes, turning into someone more open to human contact. During this period had a deep friendship with a small circle, called the “circle of Lovecraft” later, among them was Clark Ashton Smith, August Derleth, Donald Wandrei, Frank Belknap and Robert Bloch, with whom he kept contact by letter.
On 1921 his mother passed away in the same hospital that his father, and three years later, on 1924 got married with Sonia Haft Greene with whom lived in New York but only for two years, after a divorce he went back to Providence to live with his aunts, almost ten years later he died, being buried in Swan Point in the same city.
Woks like “The call of Cthulu”, “The mountains of madness” or “The Dunwich horror” are the most known but not the only ones, there’s also the “Necronomicon” allegedly written by an Arab called Abdul Alhazred, describing rituals and invocations of creatures.     The most reoccurring hardships was that of the death of the people that he loved the most and, also, never being financially stable (Edgar Allan Poe). Before Poe was the age of 3, both of his biological parents had passed away and he was sent to live with a foster family (Poe's Life).     Edgar Allan Poe's work is known throughout the world. He was born in 1809 in Boston. When Poe was still an infant his father left him and then his mother died. Poe was adopted by Jon Allan. Then Edgar Allan Poe was Educated in Europe. Poe attendant college for while, but Jon Allan stopped Paying for his college education because Poe had to many gambling depts. Then Poe joined to the army in 1827 he wasn't successful in the army though. Then Poe moved back to the United States and wrote stories in Baltimore. Poe was married to Virginia in 1836. Readers of Poe's work especially the short stories will find among many Similarities. When analyzing the short stories, readers will find these Similarities by considering the story elements: charters, setting, plot, mood, Subject of matter, and point of view. The characters in Poe's stories share similarities. Often a character is Driven by their emotions. In the Tell Tale Heart the unidentified narrator Becomes so obsessed with his emotions regarding the old man's eye that he Was driven to murder. In the Cask of Amontillado Montessori is totally Controlled by his overpowering feeling that he and his family name had been Insulted. In the Pit and the Pendulum the unknown narrator is being driven By his emotions to survive and to get out of the pit. It seems Poe's characters Are driven by their emotions. Another similarity a reader will notice is that usually male characters left Unidentified for example in The Pit and the Pendulum the entire story is Narrated by a man who is certainly unnamed, but is also vague regarding his Person. In this story he is basically the only character. In The Fall of the House of Usher the narrator who is the central character among only two Other characters remain nameless and vague as well.
