Knowing she'd never get out of the house the way she was she acted along with her family and 'hated' ghouls seeing them as beasts. She had gotten her rights back but, had given up on the idea of ever meeting a ghoul.Fate had another plan for her one she couldn't avoid. This is the day it all began; the day marking the beginning of Alicia's to be existence.Really though could it have been anyone else other then Kanori. No, when she thought about it she couldn't think of a single woman that could step into her mothers shoes and even get close to walking a mile.

It was June 12th in the year 1997; Kanori was 17 at the time nearly ready to move out of her parents home.It had been long since she spoke of ghouls and she had regained her parents trust for the most part at least. She was allowed to

It was the summer of 1983; I was reading my first Horror novel by Jay Anson “The Amityville Horror”, it was the scariest thing I had ever picked up. Despite the late hours I continued to read into the early morning hours until my eyes burned for relief. Whenever I got up to use the rest room I would stand on the end of my bed lean over and open the door and jump so not to be grabbed by monsters that might be laying in wait under my bed. This started a long love affair for horror stories.…

The huge clock struck six and the scary monsters started to roam around Busch Gardens. My dad and my brother made me do a haunted house called Cemetery, which had decomposing bodies, skeletons, and ghouls. We were waiting in line for the fast pass area and the line was still pretty long. Then the demons woke up. At first I thought they were statues but they started walking and moving. I was intently watching the demons. They were walking up to different people and they were buzzing chainsaws in people’s faces. Then one was schlepping towards me……

Born in the 1950’s the world was recovering from World War II. Being the youngest out of 5 brothers and sisters meant he was the baby. Technology was just getting started. Television came out in the 1950’s, but being born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico electricity was still rare there. But my dad was privileged to live in the biggest house in the city, at the time. “We used candles until I was 8.” My dad smiles as he remembers the times when he would sit the table with his siblings exchanging scary stories. “They would say if you would go out into the woods at night by yourself you would see this devil-like creature that had one horse foot, and a big hat. But since I was the most daring, I went out one night, five blocks away from home, to try to find it but my mother came out and found me and dragged me by my ear all the way home.” “I was raised in a Catholic oriented home, that meant I had to put god first before anything else. And if I was bad I would get a punishment.”…

It was still in its nondestroyed state. I was with my friends from night one plus my friend's mother that I mentioned earlier as well, and my own parents. I walked into the building and I saw that room with a locked door that has the light on at all times. I was told to never go inside of that room. They told me that it was not for me to go into. I was going on vacation to this house for some reason so I had to unpack my bag in a bedroom. The house was very old so I ignored any movement that I heard I put my things on the bed and I was very cold. My mom called out for me to go to the main room. I went out there and noticed that people were crucified, hanged, torn in half, and burned. The door with a mysterious light was open and the girl was standing in front of it. I was afraid not because of the bodies but because the door was open. The girl motioned for me to come to her and I was unable to resist walking to her. As I got closer she looked more disfigured and evil. Her eyes were the biggest part that I remember. They were black with light pupils. She had claws like in my earlier dreams and she had a scream that paralyzed me. She ran at me and right as she was about to hit me I saw every event that I have that I have done to help or hinder people in real life. This felt like it went on forever and then I woke up screaming and in a cold sweat. My mother was trying to wake me up for ten minutes because of my screams. I knew that something was wrong at this…

I let my feet feel the carpeted stairs inch by inch. A found missing flyer was framed on the wall as I paced up and down the hallway my head was out of my mind or was it my mind was out of my head? Screaming. Screaming. Screaming. It never stopped! Where was it! I banged on the wall over, and over, and over, and over again. I ran to the closet door and opened it. There it was; the screaming. There she was; the girl. I couldn't see her, but I could feel the chill. A victim. I closed the door. My eyes crossed and rolled back. A shot of adrenaline shoots up me. The screams poor out of my mouth. I can't control it. I try to close my mouth, but I can't. I start walking down the stairs at a fast pace. Foaming at the mouth I try to get myself together but I can't. Why. Before I know it I'm picking up my gun and walking at an even faster pace out the door, but how. Something's pulling me, but nothing's there. I'm walking faster, and faster, and faster. Past the river, past the boat, into the water, to the shore, through more woods. Walking, and walking, and walking, and walking. I stop. My upper body seems to collapse, but my legs keep me stable. I look around as if I'm checking to make sure no ones there. I take the gun to my head I start to weep and call for help... But I'm already…

As we grew up, it all faded away. The monsters that they told us were real never existed. It was indeed a relief to know that; although, sometimes later I used to wish that had I known all this back then, I probably would have been the hero among my age fellows, famous by the name of 'the fearless kid.' However, the concept was there. It had always been there while growing up and leaving the innocence behind. The monster had not yet gone away. It had stayed. Inside each one of us.…
