How To Write A Weekly Reflection
Weekly Reflection #2
This week was much calmer compared to last week. Friday the 15th marked the beginning of my second week interning. It was really nice seeing the same face over again for a change. I am begging to know where everything is. Which is beyond a relief to me because it is important for me to know where all supplies are located in the artroom. Also it makes it easier for me to help Ms. Shaw. I really feel Ms. Shaw and I work well together. She is very inviting, informative and easy to work with. This week my biggest lesson I learned is flexibility is key. A little girl named Imagine was given an art piece to finish that was not hers. By this time all projects had been handed out and most students were already working on them.

The team concluded that the different types of stocks issued by a corporation are common stock, preferred stock, and treasury stock. Everyone is aware that common stock gives stockholders the right to vote on actions dealing with corporate earnings through the acquisition of dividends, and keeping the same percentage of shares when new stocks are issued. Preferred stocks are additional class of stocks issued by corporations to appeal to more investors. Treasury stock is stock that a company has issued, and then reacquires. Though everyone is aware of what types of stocks are issued by corporations, there are still some areas where team members expressed still being confused. One of those areas of concern deals with authorized stock and why companies do not put a par value on a stock to determine its value. Another area of confusion deals with treasury stock and grasping the concept.…

This week included much activity with meetings, rain and the storm that never happened. Monday began with a Right on Crime communications meeting. It was interesting to sit through and hear what all was going on throughout the RoC organization. Then I went back to my desk to try and finish out the TPPF communications project I had been working on since Thursday. After lunch, I was informed about another weekly meeting with RoC, the policy call was also informative and I learned about what some of our signatories are doing in their states and areas. Following that Call, I finished out the day by finishing the communications project. Tuesday started out ordinary and I was able to finally begin the reading for the Thinking Economically class. Then it was time…

Throughout this week I have experienced many mixed emotions. On Tuesday I came to class extremely exhausted so I took a 5 minute power nap: I woke up confused and overwhelmed. Luckily Prof. Aran took a short break, but I still struggled to catch up on what I missed. On Wednesday I got up early to begin my rhetorical analysis and study the math problems I did not understand. It was a great feeling to come to class and know exactly what was going on. After class I joined a math study group which made me feel even more confident about my math exam approaching quickly. On Thursday I finished my first assignment with 10 hours to spare. My Rhetorical Analysis paper was very challenging to write, but I dedicated 2 hours a night and finished the…

I believe I worked on your floor last semester because I recall such a change being discussed. I did not realize the hospital is interested in changing vital signs time for the entire hospital! I can see how moving the time to 0600 would delay the night PCTs from finishing their work and the day nurses from starting their shift. Collecting vitals and blood sugars while managing meal times and shift change sounds like a time-consuming task. However, I can see this as a potentially effective change since the day nurses would receive the most recent vitals and updates about their patients. I am curious about how long the hospital plans for to test the change on the unit. Perhaps over time the unit would adjust to the change? It appears fortunate…

My approach to writing my letter was very different than my approach to a writing a typical research essay. Instead of appealing to a professor, I was appealing to someone on more of an emotional level instead of an intellectual level. Although I discussed some facts in my letter, I did not go into nearly as much depth as I would in an essay. I also was trying to ask for something in my letter, where in an essay, I am trying to give the reader information not gain information from the reader. I felt more comfortable writing my letter because it was more like a typical conversation or an email. I could have more freedom with what I say and not have to follow as strict of guidelines. The letter felt more like me because it was all from my own brain and not mainly research that I had collected. I will use my experience with writing this letter to benefit future letters because I know a good structure for a letter that I can use for future letters. I also know how to incorporate all three aspects of rhetoric so it is more likely for me to get a response.…

This week I was in 1600, which I have not been on since my first semester. In this floor you see more post surgical patients. I liked the new environment and being exposed to different nurses and types of patients. I was able to take care of 3 patients and feel confident in what I was doing. I believe that because my preceptorship is coming up soon, I have set my mind to think more independently along with feeling more secure in my nursing skills and assessments. Furthermore, having the nurses positive feedback was very reassuring.…

When walking into my first period class as high schooler, I pictured myself as a well-rounded writer. My impression suddenly changed after a few weeks in Ms. Giroux’s class. As I received my first ECQ grade with a blood-inked C written in the corner, I realized I was going to have to put a lot more effort into my writing. I began to spend more time and put tedious details in my writing while doing deep revisions after my paper was complete. Towards the beginning of the year, my writing lacked creativity and organization skills.…

From the start of this school year in eighth grade I have improved on my writing in one way or another. Since the beginning of the school year I have always struggled with writing. I never knew what to write or where to start but, as the year went on I struggled less and began to find a better starting point easier. There were somethings that I always found were easier for me to complete than others. Finding quotes to support my opinion was hard…

Self motivated, industrious, dedicated, determine and God fearing individual are attributes that reflects my own characteristics. My religious background began in the Church of God in Christ where the Old Testament was the primary teachings that shaped my life’s values and forms. Upon publicly stating that I believed in Jesus Christ and that He died for my sins, I was baptized and thereafter considered “saved and sanctified.” This is one of the factors besides culture, my Sunday school teacher and family that lead me to believe that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Pursuing my doctoral degree is one of the things that will shape my future in helping me to be an effective leader. This personal reflection encompasses several areas of my past and current life. The elements of discussion include early influences for engagement in a doctoral program, level of preparedness and current higher education position, anticipated outcomes of the program, and life beyond the PhD and advanced studies.…
