How To Read The Book 'Dinofours' By Steve Metzger
“Dinofours” by Steve Metzger was my favorite series of books I liked to have read to me when I was little. My absolute favorite book in the series was “It’s time for school!” I would make my mom read it to me everyday when I was getting ready to go to preschool for the first time. This book is special to me because it made me excited to go to school and learn at a very young age. As a reader, this book allowed me to enjoy learning how to read. As I got older, I would find myself coming back to the books when I could read them myself. This book also inspired me to read more books to find more stories that intrigued me as much as this one did.

Review: I think that this book is a great book for young readers. In this book it has a lot of examples of onomatopoeia. Having this encourages the young readers and listeners to engage in the book. This book also uses a lot of repetition so it helps with prediction as well. It is a book that is not only written well but the pictures are also illustrated very well.…

This is an account of the “current” U.S. events between the years 1968 and 1974. Since the book Jaws was written in 1975, these historical occurrences should serve as a background for what was happening in the years leading up to the book’s publication. These occurrences were no doubt instrumental in Peter Benchley’s writing, as I’m sure they served as a possible inspiration for some of the content in the book, as well as perhaps a metaphor for some of the subject matter.…

They are a series of books about a bear family that encounters everyday problems, and solves them. The first book was The Berenstain Bears Pick Up and Put Away. It is time for bedtime in the Berenstain house and all of the cubs toys are still all over the floor. The Parents tell them to put the toys away and head up to bed.The second book was The Berenstain Bears and the Trouble With Parents. I would be assigned books that would put me to sleep like Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry because it would have no action that I enjoyed. That’s when eighth grade happened. I saw this smart kid reading a book with a bland red cover with the title I am Number Four. At first I thought it was too advanced and boring so I didn’t bother reading it. Until that summer I went to the library and saw the book under the “Most Read” section and I gave it a shot. I could see why that kid wouldn’t put that book down during class. It made me feel so many emotions I’ve never felt before over a book and I couldn’t stop reading the series, again I wouldn’t do my homework and my parents would get mad because I would read too much for once! I have recently just finished all the books in the series up to this point and I’m waiting to get my hands on the one that just recently came out. I have read this series several times because I just thought it was so…

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million,” author Walt Streightiff once stated. In the perspective of the child, no matter from what century the child may have been or is from, the world is filled with mystery and new adventures every day. Children’s literature, since the nineteenth century, has been capturing the world in which children see with their own eyes. The imagination, curiosity, and adventure of children are portrayed by authors who remember what common thoughts and questions they once had at the young age which they set their main characters to be in their stories. Whether it is a chapter book for children ages ten and older, a beginner chapter book for eight…

The lights shut and the screen flicks on, filling the room with the outdated theme song to Reading Rainbow, beginning the reading lesson for the day. Jones book to reading The Catcher in the Rye and Fahrenheit 451, my love for reading has grown to the point of wanting to own a library that one would see on pinterest when looking for cute bookshelf ideas.…

Quickly plucking The Cave of Time from the library and opening it, I became enthralled with the book and would quickly flip back and forth between pages, curious to find all the different endings. This book was different, it was interactive and it was the bright light that illuminated my love of reading. By putting me directly into the story and essentially making me the main character, it felt like there was stakes to the choices I made and made the book harder to drop. To me, this book was a stepping stone to reading for fun, and revealed the beauty of the story that books hold for me. Not only that, but it allowed me to hone my English skills, as I had only been accustomed to reading small sentences from magazines or bulletins in my daily life. The Cave of Time, a book that impacted me so much, emerged all thanks to a simple idea that was originally not…

Summary: John Holt is a former teacher who shares personal anecdotes in his essay “How Teachers Make Children Hate Reading.” Holt remembers taking a traditional approach to teaching as a beginning elementary school teacher. He initially thought that quizzing students over assigned readings and requiring them to use a dictionary to look up unfamiliar words was a best practice. However, a conversation with his sister challenges him to think critically about the effectiveness of his style, and he realizes his “methods were foolish” (359). An avid reader, Holt recalls he never looked up words in a dictionary as a child, but the lack of a dictionary did not make him any less intelligent or appreciative of language. He, like many other literate people he met, developed his vocabulary by encountering the same words “over and over again, in different contexts” (359). Holt’s understanding of what it takes to nurture a love of reading in children from an early age evolves throughout the essay. He argues that reading would be a more enjoyable experience for children if parents and teachers allowed children to read stories that interest them and not expect them to understand every word or interpret every meaning behind it.…
