Think about sports today, technology has drastically changed sports in many ways. Specifically in soccer it has changed different areas of the beautiful game but for the better. New technology has allowed soccer to grow and flourish in the United states. It has increased the interest through how fans watch games, social media, and even phone apps that allow fans to stay connected to their teams.
Since soccer hasn’t been very prominent in the United States for the past ten years, Tv carriers have had few channels that fans can watch games on. Now, because of the increase of interest in soccer within the United States major Tv carriers have expanded their networks and added more channels that televise only soccer games. Last year NBC made a 250 million dollar, three year contract to cover the European Premier League games in Europe. For example, Twitter, it allows fans to tweet about a certain play or something that happened during the game making it viewable to friends and even players. Some soccer players have even started tweeting with fans about their games about upcoming events. Along with personal accounts, Twitter has a wide range of fan based accounts. A lot of these accounts keep up with player stats and give live updates about a specific game.
