How Masks Are Beneficial
Are Masks More Beneficial or Harmful?
The correct definition of a mask is something that partially conceals your whole face. But there is another way you can interpret mask. The type of mask that conceals your whole persona. This type of masks can change your life, the choices you make depend on what type of mask you wear. Masks have been used for thousands of years in bad ways and beneficial ways. When we think about Masks one of the first things we think of is Halloween. There are many ways masks can be used, and some ways are very peculiar. One way masks can be used is in religious ways, for example, the Iroquois use masks to heal themselves and other people and things around them. But sometimes masks can be used in a harmful way. Some

All of them were harmed by masks, and therefore, masks are harmful to people.

Masks are always harmful to the wearer. There are many examples to point out from the books we have read this unit. One of the many pieces of evidence to prove this is in the stories we have read. One piece of evidence to prove this is in the story “7th Grade” by Gary Soto. In the story, it says “Mr.Bueller asked if anyone knew French. Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa...The teacher beamed and said, Tres Bien. Parlez Vous francais. Victor didn’t know what to say.” This is a great piece of evidence. I say this because when Victor wore a mask it backfired on him, he got embarrassed and he felt stupid for doing that. This is a form of masking because Victor raised his hand even though he did not know what the answer was. Therefore, he was not being himself, and when he was not himself it hurt him, and it revealed his true identity. Another piece of evidence to prove that masks are harmful to the wearer is in the book “Fatal Flower” by Laurence Yep. In this book “Fatal Flower” there was a girl named Gem. Gem wanted to become beautiful because she thought she was ugly, and went to a wise lady, the wise lady made her

One person who is in this category is Victor Lustig, I say this because he sold the Eiffel tower. And when he got caught for selling the Eiffel Tower it was obviously beneficial to all of the French people because they got a big tourist attraction back, and they generated more money. And this was not beneficial to Victor Lustig he got caught again, and he got put in jail. Another way it was beneficial to people when Victor Lustig got his mask revealed is when he made his biggest scandal of all. He claimed that he had a box and it could make copies of banknotes. And because of this, he made a lot of money. But when he got his masked revealed many people got their money back, and it was not beneficial to Victor Lustig because he got busted. So this was not beneficial to him because he got caught, and it was beneficial to the people because they got all of their money back. Another piece of evidence is the story the red headed league. In the PBS video of the Red-Headed League when Sherlock Holmes finds out John Ross is behind the thin air disappearance of Jabez Wilson’s job,it was harmful to John Ross because he almost got fired for letting Sherlock Holmes spoil the grand plan made by James Moriarty. This was helpful to Jabez Wilson because he understood why the job suddenly disappeared into thin air, any why his employee Victor Spaulding was working at such low wages and why he

The mask is a form of deception or illusion. Sometimes, it can be worn as both. It hides the true emotions of slaves, keeping the slave master from knowing what is going on in their minds. The mask also allows the slave to have an identity without the master's detection. The mask gives the illusion that the slave is exactly how the masters believe, ignorant, incapable of true emotion, and unable to think for themselves.…

Masks are considered "functional works of art" and play a social purpose in Africa. They are used in storytelling and ceremonies and are made to be worn over the head rather than cover the face. This technique is also used in The Lion King so that the human facial expression is not lost and to support the beadwork, corsets and armor used to show the human qualities of a lion. The costumes on the other hand are made of silk cloth to hide the human form, break the shoulder line and to enhance the powerful joints and thighs. The masks are made in such a way that the actor can control the facial expression of the mask through cables attached to their sleeves. Costumes and masks are also used to show the development of the character as they progress through out the story. Young Simba's costume is not as intricate as Scar's to show that, Scar has an underlying plan whereas Simba is innocent.…

Exactly when the noh mask came into being is not entirely clear however it is believed that masks, and their names still used today, were developed from the mid to latter part of the Muromachi period (1392-1573). Previous to that time, the mask conventions were not entirely set and masks themselves had stronger religious connotations. It was during the Muromachi period that the religious significance of the masks began to wane and they took on more human characteristics. It is thought that as performers started to think more about the use of yūgen (mysterious beauty) and profundity, they felt they needed to hide the unattractive aspects of their own faces and concentrate on making the beauty of noh stronger.…

Halloween night is an easier social event because one’s responsibilities are reduced. Halloween night creates pressure in what you wear, but if someone is in disguise, no harm is committed. If someone does not like the costume worn, because of being in disguise, none can judge anyone. For example, someone wears a Darth Vader costume and another person thinks it is dorky, no one will know who is under the costume. Whereas, wearing a terrible dress or tux may declare someone “the most embarrassing”. For example, a girl slips and falls, where she spills Kool Aid on her dress, and is laughed at by the student body. In addition, people have deceiving facades for entertainment. Even if you are acting differently, wearing face paint, or dressing…

"People who pursue their own intellectual interests for purely personal reasons are more likely to benefit the rest of the world than are people who try to act for the public good." There are often both sides of the coin. While I believe that both who pursue their own objectives and who try to act for others can benefit the human, it is more probable that some selfish malevolent desires of human being lead him to the way which not only have no benefit to the whole society, but also undermine its situation. Large number of innovations and discoveries in the world has been done by those who followed their own dreams. The history is full of names of notable scientists such as Einstein or Newton who brought revolution to the world of science as they were motivated to satisfy their own thirst to have knowledge. While their motivators for these famous accomplishments were their inner desire, the results of their endeavors benefit others too. Other than scientist, there are lots of musician and artists who enriched the lives of human beings while they invest their time and energy on their own interest. Musicians such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach in different periods colored the lives of people and placate their soul. Writers such as Shakespeare caused a stir in the literature by his witty plays. In the other hand, there are so many eminent scientists who made all their effort for enhance the living conditions of human, and tried to help the whole world. Louis Pasteur is probably one of the most important benefactors of humanity. Suffering from the death of people from Rabies, he developed vaccination against this harmful disease. Alexander Graham Bell, during his life span, made tremendous efforts to improve the lives of the deaf. Another great example of people who act for the public good is Mother Teresa. No one who just thinks about his own can leave his comfortable life and choose to live in slums to help the poor. However, if one pursues his own intellectual…
