Percy is not just like Perseus because their names sound alike. They are alike in other ways as well. Like Perseus, Percy was saved because he had a god watching over him. In “ The Great Heroes Before the Trojan War” it says, “ But Perseus was saved from his folly. Two great gods were watching over him.”(Hamilton 145). This same thing happened to Percy when he was battling Anabeth. She had beaten him up pretty badly and Percy had lay there…

We are introduced to Perseus “Percy” Jackson, a seemingly boring kid, with dyslexia and troubles making friends. An argument could be made that the first call was in the museum when he was attacked by the Fury, telling him to confess. Not a literal call, but rather a sign by fate that something is happening, the first touch of Percy with the world of the gods. The literal call to adventure of the story is at a rather late part, Percy was already part of Camp Half-blood, and his father, Poseidon, had already claimed him. I mean, the title of the chapter is literally “I Am Offered a Quest”. Not really much to explain there.…

In ancient Greek myth, Perseus and his mother Danae were exiled after Danae’s father, King Akrisios, found out that Danae had been impregnated by Zeus. After finding refuge in Seriphos with Diktys, a fisherman, Danae was pursued by King Polydektes, ruler of Seriphos. In love with Danae, Polydektes “schemed to get rid of the now grown-up Perseus.” The Riordan equivalent to King Polydektes would be Gabe Ugliano, Percy’s stepfather who is constantly playing poker, whom Percy nicknamed “Smelly Gabe” and describes as “nice the first thirty seconds we knew him, then showed his true colors as a world-class jerk.” While Gabe may not be in pursuit of Sally Jackson, Percy’s mother, in the same way that Polydektes was, Gabe still attempts to push Percy out of the household in other ways, like sending Percy away to boarding school and turning Percy’s bedroom into a storage place for his own possessions. Furthermore, in the ancient myth of Perseus, after returning to Seriphos from his quest, he discovers that his mother Danae had taken refuge from Polydektes’ violence. Angered by this, Perseus uses the decapitated Medusa head to petrify Polydektes. After returning home to New York City after his own quest, Percy realizes that Gabe had been physically abusing Percy’s mom Sally. After the instance that Percy…

Percy Jackson is the main protagonist of the last Olympian. Percy isn’t greed at because he turned down god hood. “Oh, not you although I suppose I should wonder turning down immorality” (Riordan, 355) after defeating Kronos he was given a offer to be a god. He is also funny “With great power... comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later”. Making funny remark and one liner makes him a funny character in general, this funny one liner was said after he obtained the curse of Achilles and they were outside the underworld. Percy is also caring for his friends and he would do anything to protect them. Imagine being a demigod and able to heal from water. That is what Percy Jackson can do in The Sea of Monsters. They obtained their demigod powers from their god or goddess parent. Percy Jackson and his demigod buds are descendents from greek god or goddesses. The Puritans would abhor the novel The Sea of Monsters due to characters disrespecting authority, having superhuman powers, and being self reliant.…

Would Huckleberry Finn fit in on Kwajalein? No. In the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain Huck is taken in by the Widow Douglas, and she tries to teach him good manners and to “civilize” him. Huck rebels against this and disobeys her at first but then he doesn’t mind it. Huck’s father, an abusive drunk, returns and takes Huck away from the Widow. His father beats him and locks him in their cabin and Huck decides that he is going to run away. Huck leaves on the river and finds Jim, a runaway slave and they continue on a journey together. They float down the river and meet some good people and some not so good people and get into a lot of predicaments that show their morals and their personalities. Huck is very rebellious in nature and does not like to follow rules; he is also worldly and always surrounded by crime. I believe that Huck would not fit in on Kwaj because most “Kwaj-Kids” are well behaved and sheltered, which Huck is not.…

In “The Loss of the Creature,” Percy focuses on how one perceives something before actually witnessing it based on the opinions of others. The value of the place or idea is already preconceived due to the fact that we are so caught up in time that we overlook the entire experience as a whole. Or being that we are so focused on the option on an object from someone else, we miss the whole concept or what it’s true meaning or “beauty” as Percy state’s is. We lose the ability to make our own decisions because we base them off of someone else’s viewpoints. Using an example of a movie that I experienced shows Percy’s point.…

I was terrified even though I hadn’t committed the crime that I had been accused of. I went to bed that night but couldn’t sleep with the thought in the back of my mind that my son could grow up to be sold down the river. I knew what I had to do. It was one of the hardest choices I had to make, there was no other option.…

Everyone is great in their own way, even those who may not realize it or appreciate it. In the end, your worth will show in some way. In the book, The Lightning Thief, I thought I that it was about a boy named Percy who has dyslexia and ADHD that always gets into trouble. Then, Percy learns that his dad is the sea god Poseidon. Afterwards, Percy finds out that Zeus has accused him of stealing his lightning bolt. Now, Percy must go on a quest with his new friends to find Zeus's lightning bolt so that there isn't another world war. He also wants to save his mom who has been taken to the Underworld. Now, I think Rick Riordan is trying to teach us that everyone has great worth, even those who feel different and unappreciated.…

Firstly, Percy Tallbot the main character of this movie was a good example where the factor of losing and regaining of identity takes place . On that note, Percy loses her identity several times, however she ends up regaining it. In the beginning of the movie, Percy was released from prison which reveals that something wrong must of happened with her. When Percy stepped off the bus in Gilead, she was wearing an old coat with her head down, which shows a sign of disturbance. This is proven when Percy loses her temper on Joe due to suspecting him for making fun of her with his friends. Percy got so angry that she told him that she killed a man. This proves the fact that Percy was very annoyed because of the town talking about her, and at the same time she had to deal with the anger of her actions in the past. This is a clear aspect of losing her identity, as her attitude was entirely different of when referred back to her in the middle of the movie. This also establishes the fact that her actions in the past must of affected her in such a way, where now she has lost her identity and personality. That is a exemplification of losing her identity, on the other hand after a while Percy got accustomed to vicinity around her. This is shown when Percy begins to be joyful and helpful around the kitchen.…

Meeting a monster is one way how Percy is a hero. Percy is in the museum with Mrs.Dodds and she starts saying strange things to Percy. Suddenly, she shifts into a monster. “She wasn’t human. She was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs, and she was about to slice me to ribbons.” (Riordan 12) This supports Percy meeting a monster because the quote says Mrs.Dodds was not human. Then, the quote describes Mrs.Dodds with things monsters have like bat wings and yellow…

Percy – Percy provides the novel with the perfect parallel to Dunstan. He does, however, contrast in many ways to Dunstan. They are best friends, but Percy rivalry results in the formation of the main setting of the novel. Percy also feels more of an attachment to material goods than Dunstan does. He thinks only of himself and is in constant pursuit of total and utter control. Percy was low moral standards in comparison to Dunstan and in some ways, feels he is of a higher stature than other human beings. This awkward relationship between him and Dunstan forms the basis of the novel.…
