Miranda is “Eve of an enchanted Paradise” (Works of W. Shakespeare vol 16), the meaning of innocence, beauty and simplicity. As soon as she meets Ferdinand, she is ready “to place her life, her love, her service beneath his feet” (Works of Shakespeare vol 16), which is opposed to what Fowles’ Miranda is doing. Though both are well educated, beautiful, they have different meanings of what life is about and what they should do in order to achieve fulfilment. Contrary to the cultural background, Fowles’s Miranda is a survivor, a woman who once being captured, learns to love life, while Shakespeare’s Miranda is fragile, always protected by the hardships of life by her loving father. Both Mirandas are imprisoned in a virtual cell, derived their…

Such obstacles initiate the process of change and transformation. Clearly, through a close study of the play ‘Away’ by Michael Gow, the poem ‘Whither will I Wander’ by William Shakespeare and the picture book ‘I had trouble in getting to Solla Sollew’ by Dr Seuss, the characters experience various degrees of change and transformation. Factors that impact on the degree a character changes and transforms include: support networks and the ability or inability to accept reality. Through the use of language and visual techniques, each composer conveys how each character faces a degree of change within their journey.…

A loud “whoosh” echoes throughout the dark distant auditorium, and in an instant huge gleaming lights lower themselves upon the stage. The stage sits empty, lifeless, waiting, listening..listening for one to drop jaws with their all-knowing Mozart Symphony or disappoint with a piece that has no rhythm. With each day a new audience gathers around to join the stage in listening. To some it just may be a song, but to others it is a message, a chapter, a story. A story that throws all of life's up’s, all of life's downs. All of it’s good days, it’s bad days. Everything described on one sheet of paper.. But ultimately that was the audience's choice. The stage waited each day for the next performer, for the next song..With each passing person a new song, a new story told, and here is mine.…
