For thousands of years, a collection of books called “The Bible” has affected humanity in several ways. It has changed the course of human history, is ever changing the present state of the modern world, helped shaped politics we know today, and affect social, moral and ethical behavior among all men. The Bible is a collection of books; First is the Torah, which is the first five books of The Bible. After the Torah is the Talmud which is the remaining books within the old testament. These books themselves are the pillars of Judaism. The new testament begins with the Gospel, which is the story of Christ and the works he did. The following section of books is the Epistle. The words in the Gospel is the story of Jesus, the son of God. His actions and words have translated centuries and still hold great significance today. Human history has also been affected by the teachings of Jesus. When early Christian churches, Jesus followers, became more commonplace they man huge changes in history. They created more equality with women and slaves. Women and slaves could worship with the men and the free. Early Christians also valued all life, and with that mentality started the end of infanticide (killing of babies). These were big steps to a more modern life, which began from the words of Jesus and the effect he had on people. Some of the lasting effects that are common in modern society is the monetary rules within Christianity. The most basic forms of capitalism came from the teachings after Jesus. Christianity made free enterprise the correct way of controlling an economy. Today, especially in America, we still embrace the free enterprise system. The Epistles help teach and explain the message of Jesus within the Gospel. Unlike the Talmud, Christians wanted all men to learn and read the word of God, not just the leaders teaching the people what the message was. This desire to have all learn helped form and create standard education. Churches help teach people to read and interpret, so they could spread the word of God. This made education very important within the Christian faith. The Epistles were read by the people so that they could better understand the wishes of their God. This caused more people to live by these words and helped shape the modern world. In modern times, we all have a right to choose what beliefs we have, this stems from being educated and literate. Early Christian churches teaching common people to read has lead humans to have more choice. We choose what religion we follow, how we follow and practice that religion. This leads to a freedom of choice, which also can be seen within American Government today. In our society we choose what leaders will represent us within our government, what laws we want to follow, and what direction our country will head in the coming years. This effect can also be seen throughout the world in any Democracy. These things we take from granted come from early Christian churches wanting to have a standard of education for all people to learn the word of God.
