In 1972, the Surgeon General issued the following warning on violent TV programs: "It is clear to me that the causal relationship between televised violence and antisocial behavior is sufficient to warrant appropriate and immediate remedial action…there comes a time when the data are sufficient to justify action: that time has come” (Steinfeld, 1972). Since the time that video games began to dominate the market, media has been investigated as one of the major sources of malevolent behaviors in society. “In the years since this Surgeon General warning was issued, hundreds of additional studies have shown a link between violent media exposure and aggression”(Anderson& Bushman, 2002).Although this warning related to television, it is a wonder if these same negative effects could be present in the use of violent video games. Some people believe that these video games change the kids’ minds and make them killers while others feel that it does nothing to them. Although no outcome has been decided yet, studies have shown that the violence in videogames can change the way that kids think, some bad like killing and others good like problem solving. However, there has also been a rise in sports and puzzle games allowing kids to problem solve and maybe get motivated to play a sport. During this period of time there have been multiple violent events in the world and people make the assumption that the violent behavior is caused by video games. To my experience I would have to agree with this statement and say that video games do cause violent behavior because I have encountered someone's behavior, I have seen the development of how realistic the games look like, and I have personally felt the sensation of playing the games myself.…

A kid is more likely to be aggressive towards people if he or she were playing Grand Theft Auto or a game that is violent that involves shooting or killing a person (University of Rocheste para. 1). When a kid is playing a violent game it makes them more familiar with hitting, shooting or stealing a car which makes the kid feel like he or she is in a real life situation (University of Rocheste para. 2). These games can make a person act differently when it comes to real life situations such as a person reacting very emotionally to a cause or being more aggressive. Violent video games like this can influence bad or psychotic behavior for example what happened in Colorado. A kid with orange dyed hair decided to enter a movie theater and kill several people with no intention. Little do people know the reason could be violent video games. Researchers have done an experiment to prove that video games can corrupt a person’s mind:…

Some may say video games do promote violence and aggression and I’m here to say, you don’t know until you can prove it. Exposing children and adolescents to violent visual media increases the likelihood that they will engage in physical aggression against another person. One short term affect is that general arousal increases, which tends to increase the dominant behavioral tendency. A long term affect is it decreases the cognitive accessibility of nonviolent ways to handle conflict.…

For the past 40 years, violent video games have been painstakingly researched and have been found to bear five very hard to argue points. These facts are that violent video games cause aggressive behavior and thinking patterns, increased psychological arousal, and the lack of a desire to help others around them (Anderson, 2003).…

Children have many influences in participating in violent activities. Owning a violent video game does not necessarily mean it's a negative aspect that can cause involvement in these activities such as fights in school by our children. There was an experiment done that may say otherwise; however, not every aspect was accounted for in this experiment which makes it invalid. This experiment alone convinced me that violent video games in fact does not have any influence to children participating in violent activity at all. I personally have played video games that are considered violent and I do not associate myself with any kind of activity that is violent. Referring back to this experiment, I will demonstrate the other factor that were not recognized making this argument invalid.…
