How Did The Conquistadors Influence The Aztecs
The Aztecs pushed southward into the rich agricultural lands of Central Mexico. In 1300 the Aztecs started to build their own empire. By 1500 they ruled a densely populated empire. The Aztecs were impressed into building elaborate canals and reclamation projects (Bulliet xxx). The Aztecs also built impressive cities, and promoted irrigation projects. Hernan Cortes, Spanish conquistador who led the conquest of Aztec Mexico in 1519-1521 for Spain.
The Conquistadors were 16th century Spanish individuals who conquered Mexico, Central America, and Peru (Bulliet, 438). The Conquistadors migrated to the Caribbean after gold and indigenous labor became scare on Hispaniola (Bulliet, 438). In search for gold and indigenous labor across the Caribbean’s they captured Amerindians and relocated them to Hispaniola as slaves (Bulliet, 438). Often times Indulgences were sold from church Hierarch’s this was often time’s perceived as an unfavorable method from individuals within the church. Pope Leo X (1513-1521) during his rule he encouraged the selling of indulgences. Leading him to become unpopular to the public’s eye (Bulliet, 450). With the help of the voice of popular public speaker Martin Luther, the sale of indulgences ultimately led to the “Protestant Reformation”.
The Holy Roman Empire, mostly included German states and principalities. This Empire reigned from the years (962 to 1806) (Bulliet, 463). In the early 16th century the empires merged removing the need for the number of smaller empires (Bulliet, 463). Charles V was chosen to be the new Emperor in 1519 his rule lasted until 1556.
