The attack on Pearl Harbor will be a day that will go down in America's history forever. The Japanese were very deliberate in the planning stages of the attack, preparation and the execution of the attack. Despite the tragic story of America’s past that is Pearl Harbor,it is important to remember the story on the attack because we will learn how to take the Japanese’s failure and use it to accomplish military goals in the future.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was planned with a lot of time in advance to make sure the invasion would be successful. These plans got started by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. The Striking Force left the Japan base and started to make its way toward Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The attack had different waves to target different things. The first was in place to be the driving force. The second wave was to damage the rest of the ships that were left standing. The first wave had most of the ammunition to ruin the main ships. A weapon used that was very effective was torpedos which could be shot in shallow water and create a large amount of damage to the ships. There were also air strikes. These air strikes were directed toward the most valuable ships that the Americans had. Dive bombers were in place so that they could destruct ground targets. Before the attack the Japanese did not waste time with a last scope out of the ships because they knew what ships were already there and they did not want to alert the United States. Although the invasion was impressive with the military strength, it did not do the amount of damage that was intended. Using the knowledge we have about Pearl Harbor, we can make sure that we do not make the same mistakes that they did when
