President Jimmy Carter Jr.
Jimmy Carter was born in Plains, Georgia and was the 39th president of the United States. He did many great things for Georgia and our nation. He is remembered today for being a compassionate leader who fought for human rights.
Jimmy Earl carter jr. was born in the small farming town of plains Georgia at five he already showed that he was a good business man by selling peanuts on the side of the streets At the age of nine, Carter invested his earnings in five bales of cotton, which he stored for several years and then sold at a profit. With this money he was able to purchase five old houses in Plains. She was only seventeen-years-old, three years Jimmy 's junior. When Carter first proposed marriage, she refused him. Early the following year, however, she visited him at Annapolis, and when he proposed a second time she accepted. The two were married in July of 1946. Of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter 's four children, three were grown by the time he became president.
He was educated in the public school of Plains, attended Georgia Southwestern College and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and received a B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy in 1946. In the Navy he became a submariner, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets and rising to the rank of lieutenant.
When his father died in 1953, he went back to the Plains he also carried on the family business of his father 's, selling fertilizer and farm supplies. He did the manual labor while his wife Rosalynn kept the books. Carter 's Warehouse grew into a profitable general-purpose seed and farm supply
