God of the dead, wealth, and most certainly the Underworld, Hades, also known as Pluto in Roman, was a intimidating figure to the living as well as to the Gods. As you well know, the Underworld was a terrible place filled with fearsome beasts and monsters you won’t even believe. It is said that once you enter the Underworld you will face a fate worse than death. That within one minute you will be begging for the end.

Kore, most commonly known as Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Attracted by many men but cautiously protected by her mother, Persephone is the goddess of springtime and flowers. Long ago, Hades caught sight of Kore’s sweet charms and instantly fell in love. He kidnapped her against her will and took her to the Underworld to forever be his queen. He and Zeus planned to take Kore but word got out to Demeter and she was furious. With Demeter enraged, the world felt the absence of Kore. The summer turned to winter, leaving the villages cold and dark. No berries or crops grew in mourning of Demeter's lost child. Meanwhile in the Underworld, Kore was defenseless against Hades. She accepts her role in the Underworld and to Hades and in time, she changes her name to Persephone, Queen of the Dead. Back at Olympus, Demeter convinced Zeus to free Kore of her fate but alas, before she left, Hades offered her a pomegranate, a food of the dead. When she ate the four seeds, the food bounded her to the Underworld, where she would stay one month out of the year for each seed she ate. Nevertheless, Demeter was happy to have her daughter back, and the fields grew rich and the flowers covered gardens once again. Hades was overjoyed to have his lovely bride back in his arms and now, for he is still dismal, he is happy with his world and with his queen,
