How Did Chris Mccandless Die In The Wild
In 1992 a man began his four month journey of leaving everything behind, college, family, and all his relationships to start a completely new life in the wild. In the book The Wild by Jon Krakauer, Chris McCandless recreates a new life for himself. while following his long journey, Chris renamed himself Alexander Supertramp and met many people along the way like Gallion, Franz, and Westerberg. Although some people think that Chris’s death has purpose, really Chris died in vain, alone in the woods.Chris proves this when he risks his life countless times and gets repeatedly questioned for it by friends along his trip. Chris wasted his time in the woods and could have lived if he listened to the people around him who were trying to help him.

Throughout his trip Chris is constantly told that his trip is dangerous, pointless, and stupid, Chris does not listen to them and continues his trip.In the beginning of his trip Chris got a ride from a man named Jim Gallien, who gave chris a pair of boots and a meal that his wife had packed him. before Chris could get out of his car Gallien tried repeatedly to convince him not to go. “Gallien thought the hitch hikers scheme was foolhardy and tried repeatedly to dissuade his”(Krakauer 5). this quote shows how Gallien thought that Chris’s journey was …show more content…
This quote shows that chris was not happy in the woods. He was out there for so long that he didn't realize how alone he was until he met his end. This quote is important because it shows that chris realized that he can't be alone in the woods like he wanted, and he can't keep pushing people away like he did. This evidence connects to the real world because people think that they have to surround themselves with people to feel happy, in Chris’s case he thought the opposite and in the end regretted

    He realized that there are so many stressful things in today’s world. In order for people to excel in what is considered a “normal” life they need a good job to survive. McCandless’ mission was to break down all of the parts of life which he viewed as unnecessary. He brought it back to the basic fundamentals of life, the bare essentials that one needs to make a sustainable living for oneself. The Alaskan wilderness forced Chris into becoming independent.
 On paper this sounds like an ideal situation. Living all alone in the wilderness without a care in the world. But there are many hardships one can encounter when venturing off into the unknown. Fortunately Chris McCandless was different, he knew exactly what he wanted and went for it. Many people have thought about taking on such a task as Chris did, but very few have had the mindset and the courage to actually go forth with their desire to be alone.
