Adults do not support these teenagers, because they want the best for teenagers, for they are what our future consists of.…

This is one example of the many risks Homer faced when pursuing this desire for deigning and building rockets. Despite the trouble Homer got into, the growth rewards he felt from seeing his rocketing technique start to improve would not let Homer give up on his passion. The boys relocated and made improvements on their launch site. Some people heard about what the boys were doing through word of mouth and decided to show up for the first launch at the new site. The boys lit the rocket off and ran back to their newly made shelter just in time to see their rocket blast off and soar up to fifty feet and came racing back down to where the people had their cars parked narrowly avoiding one. It was here discovered that the fuel the rocket used was not dry enough to do what they hoped. Realizing this problem allowed them to make a drastic improvement. It would be another two weeks until their next rockets would be ready to fly. The boys used innovation to build a guidance system to aid in the flight’s control. When at the field the boys launched their next rocket and it went straight up higher than the boys could estimate. The next innovation was a new fuel made by melting…

Homer Baron is an important figure in this story because he shows the reader that you must look beyond the surface before judging someone. Although, this is not clear we can make this inference based on subtle hints the narrator gives to us. For instance, the narrator leads us to believe that Homer is gay based on his word choice. However, one cannot make this conclusion given the tone of the story. The narrator is speaking as a member of the town; and the towns people gossip about everything without all the details. Therefore, the talk of Homer being a homosexual cannot be backed by facts. This is just one example of the ways Homer is depicted by the town, that we as the reader do not have evidence to support. We cannot assume that he is what…

The main character, thus far, is named Telemakhos. The character’s father has been gone for many years without returning or sending any messages, causing the boy and his mother to wonder whether he has died, or if he is gone because he does not wish to return. By the use of detail, readers are able to find out that as a result of his father’s extended absence, a number of suitors have begun to take free reign over their home and all of their property, seeking to marry the possible widow. The main plot and both the novel and the Simpson’s episode are the same. A group of children strand on an island where they turn from civilized to barbaric. Still there are a lot of important parts from the novel missing in the episode. An important part at the beginning of the storyline is when the group chooses Ralph as the leader. ‘Ralph counted. I’m chief then’ This is important because it shows democracy which shows there is still civilization and that they function as a society. Furthermore it creates tension between Ralph and Jack since he also wants to be the leader and therefor shows the beginning of the civilization versus savagery. The part of voting for the leader should be added to the Simpson’s episode to do more justice to the novel. Another important part that’s missing in the episode’s plot is seeing a ship on the horizon while the fire is out. This should be in the episode because it shows the different reactions of Ralph an Jack to a missing change of being rescued. Finally in the episode civilization comes back when they find out the monster is a wild boar. ‘So the children learned how to function as a society and eventually they were rescued’ This is really different from the novel because in the novel the breakdown of civilization only gets worse. That’s why this part of the Simpson’s episode should be left out of it. To put these parts into the episode we should take parts out to let it still be an episode. The part of Homer shows contrast between civilized world the breakdown of civilization on the island. But…

e war beA character whom I found interesting In “Tomorrow When the War Began” by John Marsden is Ellie Linton, the narrator, the ‘voice’ and the protagonist of the novel. The novel, Ellie has been through many morals of life, which changes the way she thinks and acts, making her become very philosophical. The way she reacts to her feelings towards Homer and Lee also appealed to me. The themes of survival, loyalty and courage are shown in the actions of Ellie, which contributes to making Ellie Linton an interesting character.…

A victim of the "Simpsons gene" which allows for only Simpson women to possess the trait of intelligence, Homer is unfortunately as "dumb as a chimp" according to his father, Abe Simpson. However, it is mainly through the analysis of his simplistic thoughts and nature, that one can gain a real perspective on Homer's complex personality.…
