Hazel told Augustus about how death is separating her from her family and she’s scared to talk about death, since every time they discuss about the topic of death, her parents seem to be extremely worried and gloomy. “I could feel everyone watching us, wondering what was wrong with us, and whether it would kill us, and how heroic my mom must be, and everything else. That was the worst part about having cancer, sometimes: The physical evidence of disease separates you from other people.” (Grace 2014 – Page 144). This quotes explains hazels fear of death because she states about how she can feel everyone wondering about her, caring for her, specially her parents and since she doesn’t want anyone to be close to her, she’s getting separated from everyone. She doesn’t have a way out of this problem. For her, that’s the worst part about having cancer, and how her parents would think she’s depressed but in reality she is not. By a physical evidence, hazel means that her parents and her other relatives believe that she’s in depression and that starts separating her from them because she likes to be left…

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings.” (Act 1. Scene 2. Julius Caesar.) This pensive line was the inspiration behind the title of John Green’s work of fiction, The Fault in Our Stars. The novel follows young Hazel Grace Lancaster, a stage 4 thyroid cancer patient, who makes the acquaintance of Augustus Waters one fateful day at Support Group. Throughout the novel, Hazel Grace takes not only a physical journey but an emotional one. The ups and downs of Hazel’s journey are penned by John Green with a substantial amount of metaphors as well as the supporting characters playing a significant part. Set in present day Indianapolis, and later Amsterdam, The Fault in Our Stars is a complex piece with the theme of the struggles in life and how we can choose what to make of them.…

Nigel believes Rufus has ague but when Rufus complains about his body aching she knows it’s not the ague. The other two had gotten sick and the doctor bled them out, which she blames Rufus for because he wanted the doctor. Dana is disappointed that her ancestor, Hagar has yet to be born. The Fault in our Stars, a book by John Green, is a tale of a tragic, yet epic love story exposing readers to the challenges these young teens face as they battle cancer and how they help each other get through it using the concept of true love. Throughout this story there is no doubt there is more than one theme, however, one in particular stands out above the rest, this is simply the power of love. Hazel and Augustus both suffer and/or suffered from some type of cancer and upon meeting one another neither felt complete. Hazel was depressed while Augustus felt a void in his life. Therefore, this is the most important theme in this story because no matter what chapter is being read by the reader, the effect of love is expressed on every page and in every line.…
