Home and Sharper Scissors
Scissors
Scissors are hand-operated cutting instruments made of regular steel, stainless steel, or more exotic materials in which a handle is fitted to its metal blades.
Homes usually keep at least a pair of scissors for household use. Doctors use scissors to cut gauzes. Children use scissors with dull blades to cut papers. Dressmakers use sharper scissors to cut fabric. There are also times that the user got blisters on thumbs and fingers after doing an arts and craft project. Even though scissors have different users, they possess common parts that enable them to function properly.
The most important part of a pair of scissors is the two blades that usually measure less than 6 in (15 cm) long. Bigger scissors have longer blades use to cut metal sheets for example. It is the cutting part of the scissors. Blades are sharp just like a knife. The two blades are asymmetric because they are made to overlap each other. These blades are attach to a handle.
Handle is the second part of a pair of scissors. It is made of plastic or steel. Generally, it has two oval holes of the same size. Some have one small handle with a hole that fits the thumb and one large handle with a hole that will fit two or more fingers. The shape of the handle has to follow the shape of the hand and must be able to smoothly transfer the strength of the hand to the cutting edge.
The third and smallest part of scissors that looks like a spiral staircase is the fulcrum in a form of screw or pin. It is made of stainless steel, magnetic or nonmagnetic. It appears shiny. It holds the blades together allowing them to rotate.
In conclusion, these parts form together one common object which simplifies household chores, surgery, embroidery, and

after watching the video of Rob McClendon, I understood how technology has made life very easy for individuals. He introduces the use of a saw blade that carries three volt of electricity, and acts like touch lamp. In order to turn on the saw blade, one must be able to touch it and it will come on. The blade is very fast and stops faster than an air bag within five milliseconds. The biggest concern that professors like Edgar Maxwell worries about is the hands of student getting hurt base on experience. Although the blade is expensive, from about $1,800 to $6,000, what matters most is how we use it, and prevent ourselves from a cut…

Mr. Potterfield uses the proper tool for the job he intends to do. He shows that the cutting tool only cuts on the push, and not on the draw. When he nears the border, he switches back to a single cutter. Because he cut the border almost all the way down, it provides a "catch" for the cutting tool. This ensures his lines do not exceed the border. He also showed the hook and pull technique in which he turned to tool around so it cuts on the pull. Near the corners there is little room for error, so he employs a Xacto knife blade to make those fine lines. One thing I found interesting was the cross sectioning of lines in order to make the checkers. We use that in the tattoo industry whenever we are tattooing scales, like on a snake, dragon, or koi fish (except their semi curved). This video was really informative, and reinforced the text for this week's material. I have a fairly good understanding of the checkering process, and look forward to practicing in the near…

The Razors Edge was a story created in 1944 and two years later was transformed film (in 1946) and redone in the mid-1980s. It is a captivating story of a man’s quest to find the meaning of life. The movie brought you to many places and left me questioning many actions, only to find the answer of why he did it shortly after his actions. This movie has many meanings, it makes you think, it gets under your skin, and it really makes you think about how you live your life. The first time I saw this movie, it did not have much effect on me, it was the second and third time I watched it that it really provoked such thought and showed me so many meanings in one film; it was astonishing.…

The last rule of the game is that scissors beat rock. In Mason’s poem, the scissors argue that they have power over ruining vain people’s wishes. The scissors have the power to wound others and change many lives into negative ones. The scissors are compared to a knife to show a metaphor between the literal scissors that are used to cut through paper, and weapons like knives that are used to wound.…

Surgery has been performed since ancient times. The earliest recorded surgical operations were circumcision and trepanation. (Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin of the penis. Trepanation involves making a hole in the skull to relieve pressure and/or release spirits.) The earliest instruments used in these procedures were flint or obsidian (shiny stone) knives and saws. Stone Age skulls from around the world have been found with holes in them from trepanning. Primitive people also used knives to cut off fingers damaged in accidents…
