Holocaust Persuasive Essay
The Holocaust is a horrifying event that affected the lives of millions of innocent people, and yet, there are people who deny its truth. These deniers make erroneous claims and state false information to support their radical idea that the Holocaust was a hoax. Many historians and experts have countered these revisionists with their own extensive research and information. Revisionists say that there was no German program to exterminate Europe’s Jews, that the numerous claims of mass killings in gas chambers are false, and that the estimate of six millions Jewish deaths is an irresponsible exaggeration, but there has been much evidence put forth to counter these idiotic claims.

However, this plan was never put into action. Revisionists do not believe the German State pursued a plan to kill all Jews, but there is plenty of proof to show they actually did. At the Wansee Conference, Reinhard Heydrich ordered Hermann Goering to prepare a “final solution” to the Jewish question (Butz, 1998). Heydrich was the principle planner of the “Final Solution.” He was on record stating that “Europe would be combed of Jews from East to West.” There were three phases of the Nazi’s “Final Solution.” Phase one was shooting. Jews were rounded up and taken to the woods. Then, they were shot one by one. Phase two was gas vans. The van’s exhaust was piped back into the van, and Jews were put in the back of the van to die. 700,000 Jews died from this method (Weale, 2010). The third and final phase was the camps. There were two types of camps: concentration and extermination. All three of these phases of the “Final Solution” prove that there was a distinct plan in place to exterminate the Jews in Europe.     Since I was little the idea of discriminating people due to their physical appearances or different beliefs sounded irrational and senseless. Later, in history class, I learned about the Holocaust, according to the Oxford dictionary: the massive “murder of Jews under the German Nazi regime during the period 1941-45”. This idea of persecuting Jews just for thinking differently was the perfect proof of the craziness I once thought discrimination implied. I founded insane that someone could kill 6 million Jews due to their religion. Trying to learn more about the Holocaust, I found my self in front of a website full of nonsense arguments denying the Holocaust, the title of the page “Holocaust Revisionism”. According to the United Stated Holocaust Memorial Museum, Holocaust revisionism is an “attempt to negate the established facts of the Nazi genocide of European Jewry.” Even more insane than the Holocaust itself is trying to deny the suffering and death of millions of Jews. This idea of denying the Holocaust started as a propaganda movement in Canada, United States and Western Europe, in the bureaucratic language of the Nazi Policy. In 1979, a man called Wills Carto founded the institute for historical review (IHR), an organization that allowed people to question certain historical events like the Holocaust. According to the American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise, this institute bases its ideas from writers and professors that nave no credentials. So how can people believe and follow Holocaust revisionism knowing that the sources are not reliable? I continued my research and got to the question; can a historical event as important as the Holocaust be denied? If we start denying history then there will be a point where we will not know who and what to believe, so we have to look at the evidences and think rationally.
