Holistic Select Dog Foods Summary
Looking At The Holistic Select Dog Food Company:

In 2008, Holistic Select Natural Pet Food, combined with Wellness Natural Pet Food, Eagle Pack Natural Pet Food, and Old Mother Hubbard Natural Dog Snacks to form WellPet LLC. They're a privately held subsidiary of the Berwind Corporation, with their main office in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. They also have a dog food factory in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Holistic Select’s main drive is to give our pets natural nutrition to support their digestive health. Their pet products include pre and probiotics, natural fiber, digestive enzymes and botanicals, as well as healthy herbs. Together, that makes for a balanced diet that is specific to our dog's health needs, size and age.

There are special products for different breed sizes too. The Holistic Select reviews written by customers that I read were quite positive. They seem like great pet products.

Pros:

Named meat, meat meal, organs and multiple protein sources are the first or main ingredients in all their pet products. The company focuses on natural nutrition, without artificial colors or dyes.

Multiple protein sources give our dogs different amino acid profiles. That supports their general health and helps them build and maintain lean muscle mass.

Pets with allergies to a particular proteins need a single, named meat in their food, so their owner can avoid whatever the problem is. Holistic Select also has recipes to meet

The protein, fiber and moisture in Holistic Select pet products always follow the maximum claims set by AAFCO. Fat, on the other hand is always kept to the minimum claim, which is just what I want to see. Because the balance is the same across the pet food line, they are ideal for a rotation diets

Menu Foods was the largest maker of wet cat and dog food in North America, and the company was identified as a supermarket, pet product retailer or wholesaler. In 2007, Menu Foods was part of a recall of up to 100 brands and 60 million cans of pet food, which was the largest pet food recall in history. On March 15th. 2007, the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration, initiated the pet food recall. But not until April did the FDA announce that it was an ingredient, wheat gluten imported from China that contained the melamine which led to a kidney failure. This contaminated food caused 100 pets to die by the end of March and caused nearly 500 kidney failures. Menu Foods’ crisis communication was ineffective in three ways: first, Menu Foods did not institute a product recall until March 16, 2007, 24 hours after the FDA initiated it, which demonstrated that Menu Foods lacked a quick response to the crisis; second, its CEO, Paul Henderson, lacked clarity in answering questions during the investigation, which demonstrated that Menu Foods lacked transparency; third, Menu Foods did not apologize to the public, which demonstrated a lack of concern and sympathy for the victims of the crisis.…
