Introduction: Human Resources at L’Oreal
Human Resources play a key role within L’Oréal. According to observers of the company, there is a strong emphasis on its personnel and recruiting, training and retaining people is a key reason for its success. Some of the key people features of the group include:
Decentralized HR structure
One single HR strategy communicated to the L’Oréal Group globally
Involved and promoting frequent exchanges in order to spot early talents and potentials
One of the most extensive training programs known to the corporate world is offered within L’Oréal −» setting the tone for constant learning

A look at the careers section of the L’Oreal website shows that the company’s strategy of hiring good people and building core competencies and competitive capabilities is built around five key areas. Figure 1 shows L’Oreal’s strategy of Recruiting, Retaining and Training key employees.
Another important point made by the L’Oreal careers website is that while the company does its best to offer a conducive environment it is up to the individual to do his / her best because he / she holds the keys:
“At every stage of your career with L’Oréal we offer personalized training and support that will help you progress and develop your career. You hold the keys: it’s up to you to show who you are and what you can become.”
Integration
L’oreal’s recruitment, training and retention strategy starts with the Integration of new employees to the company. L’Oreal offers a tailor made induction for all its employees considering that the recruits to the company have a wide variety of personalities, skills and experience.
L’Oreal FIT
The company has therefore created L’Oreal FIT (Follow-up & Integration Track) as a two-year, personalised integration and support programme adaptable to the needs of all new employees at L’Oréal. This global integration programme allows the company to enrich and perpetuate the
