High school as a freshman
Noelle Payne
Mr. Wagner
English 2nd period
April 28, 2012
High School In high school, I want to grow socially, get good grades, and be nicer to people. I want to make more friends because I like having nice people around and I want to be there for people who need someone by them. I want to be nicer to people than I am right now because I know everyone deserves to be treated nicely. I want to get good grades so I can attend a good college and have a good future. I’m going to try very hard to achieve these goals. People always tell me that the way I live in high school will affect the way I will be living in the future. If I treat high school like it is no big deal and don't try, I will most likely have a poor job later in life because no high school means no college, and no college usually does not lead to a good job. People have told me that high school is a very important time in life and I should not take it for granted but be thankful for it. I should give my all in my studies, sports, and social life. Especially because I'm still a freshman, I have the chance to start and get through a positive and successful high school life. In order to have a good high school life, I think one of the most important things I should do is get good grades and credits. To get good grades, I need to study more and concentrate more in my classes. I'm going to try to get all of the credits required by most colleges so I have a range of colleges to choose from. I should try hard right now so I can have a good future. I want to get good grades so I can go to a good college and have good jobs. Even though I'm making plans about my future jobs, I don't want to have a serious job if it's not required. I want to be married and be helping my kids at school and my husband or do volunteer work.
Even if I had to get a job, I don't want to get a serious one. I want to be able to be doing whatever that makes me happy at the time. don't want to stick to one job for the rest of my life. I want to be able to

Everyone has to work for a living. The choice is yours whether or not you enjoy it. I am fortunate that I enjoy my career field; I just don’t love the monetary benefits. This, among many other reasons, is why I decided to go back to school. Obtaining a job that pays better, showing my kids how important having an education is, and challenging myself to make a better life for my family are the reasons why I went back to school.…

High school should be the time of your life. You should take the classes that you want and spend as much time with your friends. However, there are some high schools that don't provide as many opportunities as other schools contain. Some do not have the kind of money to even take care of the students and some don't even have enough books to educate them. I have had the privilege to learn in an environment that contains enough books and supplies for all of the students attending the schools. There were many classes that were open to me and one specific one that touched me the most was Spanish.…

High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Freshman year was full of confusion, learning an array of new things. Sophomore year was where life started to get fun and you “belonged” in the high school. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…

Getting a job marked my transition from childhood to adulthood, for various reasons. My first job was at Coney Island Amusement Park in the summer of 2015, being my first legitimate job, It taught me a lot about life and being independent. My second job was at McDonald's in New Richmond, I started working there right after I worked at Coney Island. McDonald's taught me a lot about how important it is to get a good education so you could get a job that you enjoy. After I quit McDonald’s, I stayed jobless until the summer of 2016, I attended a job expo at UC and I applied for a summer youth program and then when summer started, they called me with a job. I got assigned to help build a aviary and wildlife center in the village of New Richmond. These jobs have taught me about money management, responsibility and other important life skills.…

High school was something I did not take seriously. I did not learn until my senior year that you have to work hard to get somewhere, and not do the bare minimum of things to just “get by.” Since I did not try to keep high grades in school, I was unable to get the hope grant. This kept me at home my freshman year and at Georgia Military College. On the positive side to not going off to a university my freshman year, I have become motivated to be a hard worker. College is a new start for me to finally set goals for myself and work hard to achieve them. My short term goals consist of maintaining an 85 or above average in all of my classes, raise my cumulative GPA, and have all of my assignments turned in on time. Each day I set aside time to focus on my school work. My short term goals are going to help me reach both my mid-term and long term goals. The mid-term goals I have for myself are to finish all core class at Georgia Military College, graduate from GMC in two years, and transfer Point University. My long term goals are to graduate with a bachelor’s degree, and start my career as an early childhood educator. The goal terms are like a chain reaction. By studying in my short term goal it will carry me to my mid-term goal of graduating from Georgia Military College transfer to a university. Once I finish at the university I will come to my long term goal, which is my career.…

When I went to high school, I had a lot of fun. Maybe a little too much fun for my own good. I can still remember going to parties and staying out late with girls I liked. We would sneak booze in soda bottles wherever we went. I played a few sports and did alright based on my natural talent. School wasn’t too hard and I got A’s and B’s with just a couple C’s over my four year career. By the end of my senior year I was ready to move on to a new chapter in my life with college. My 3.5 grade point average got me into most schools that I applied to. My SAT and ACT scores helped also since they were pretty high. However, when it came time to visit the financial aid office, my high school resume wasn’t enough for me to get a good scholarship. Of the 6 colleges that I had applied to and was accepted, I could only go to the one that offered me the most amount of money to attend their college. It was depressing and only then did I realize that I had made a big mistake during high school. What you do in high school can more or less set you up for success for the rest of your life.…
