I see and experience mindbugs all the time whether I know they happened or not. One of the most common mindbugs I face everyday is availability heuristic mindbug. This mind bug happens when you are given events and which event gets more media coverage and you hear more about you assume it must happen more. An example of the availability heuristic mind bug is when you hear on the national news that a group of white police officers shot and killed an unarmed black citizen somewhere in the country, and that same event happens in 3 different cities in the United States all in the same month, you come to a conclusion about cops. Criticized for the unfinished, sketch like appearance of their work, more progressive critics praised them for their depiction of modern life. Their subjects were commonplace including landscapes, leisure and recreation in open air or “en plein air” settings, using quick and spontaneous brushstrokes to depict the fluctuation of light. Their subjects were captured by observation rather than idealization and they sought to capture typical moments in life with no moral message, rather than poses or dramatic scenes. They put special emphasis on and paid attention to the effects of light, atmosphere and movement using bold treatments in form of color and space. Japanese wood block prints influenced many of the Impressionists, as did photography. They added interesting perspectives such as from above, tilted or cropped. They also developed a new practice called “optical mixing” where they placed the colors side by side on the canvas allowing them to blended by the eye far afar. Today the works of Impressionists are recognized for their modern embodiment in rejection of established styles, the incorporation of new technology and ideas, and depiction of every day modern life.…

What is the brain? According to Richard Restak, the human brain is the master control center of the body. The brain constantly receives information from the senses about conditions both inside the body and outside it. The brain rapidly analyzes this information and then sends out messages that control body functions and actions. ("Brain" 561) According to Tether, the brain is divided into three main parts: the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brain stem. These parts, in turn, are largely made up of nerve cells, called neurons, and helper cells, called glia.
