“Strength and growth come only through effort and struggle.” -Napoleon Hill. Hester Prynne showed strength and growth during her time of struggle. Though she had committed a crime that was disdain in her town’s eyes and wore a letter that exposed her shame, she portrayed a soft, gentle attitude . Hester’s loving, yet serious attitude towards Pearl demonstrated her caring trait, and her forgiving nature was admirable. For these reasons, Hester is my favorite character. Throughout the book, Hester Prynne had a gentle attitude. When she had to stand on the scaffold and have insults hurled at her, she did not yell back at the crowd.
